Hey ! Stop displaying pure TRIBALISM and profanity by attacking Bono people which doesn’t make sense.Don’t be surprised if someone comes to talk about ASANTE MARRIAGE.You know someone can also come forward and make worse allegations against Asante women.This is not what we need in Ghana.We have very serious socio-economic problems we are contending with.

Lawyer is telling lies. You can’t give the definite date at which slave trade started. And slave trading was already in Africa before the white man came.
@goldgem1infinityx872
@goldgem1infinityx872 Күн бұрын
Both Wode Maya and Obiri Boahene are correct to some degree. That is because Slavery was practiced among the Akans and the Northerners as well. It was practiced widely across the Gold Coast and Northern Territories and the Asante Kingdom. If Obiri Boahen were entirely correct, we would not have the word 'Donkor' among the entire Akan areas. Many folks of Northern extraction as well as some Akans themselves were bought and sold by the Asantes and other Akan wealthy folks or captured to work for the Akans during Wars, and those were those they called 'Ndonkofuor' (Slaves). Among the Akans themselves, children were often taken to lenders to repay debts that could not be repaid in cash. So, all of us in the subregion were foolishly and wickedly trading in Slaves, and causing the movement of People across the whole area. Such is why it makes no sense when one plays a tribal card and exhibit bigotry among us. We could as well be from the same original stock of people that we may now be looking down upon, because our ancestors might have been captured or sold to others we may be living among now. However, what happened later on was that when the Asante Royalty began to give their females to marry the Male Northerners who were rather much taller and physically stronger than their Males, so that the emerging Kings would also be tall and well-built, Manhyia then banned anyone to refer to others as Slaves. Asanteman then prohibited any Citizens from calling others foreigners. In fact, it was also to unify the Ashanti Nation and encourage all to regard each other as fellow Asantes. It has been well documented in several authentic sources that the Arabs got involved in the Slavery as leading purchasers who sometimes even organized Slave raids all over the region. And they started from the North towards the South. That is why the names of Samori and Babatu became dreaded names among Akans, from Bono to Asante and Akwapim and Fanti, etc. The two Arabs with those names were well-known Slave Raiders among the people. I remember when I was a kid, my Mom would sometimes scare me to stop misbehaving with those names, saying if I persisted with such bad attitude, she would have Samori and Babatu come to take me away. Let the Lawyer show some intellectual humility and stop claiming any exceptional candid knowledge of Ghana's History. Many others know even more and would dispute some of his claims. He should not consider Wode's observation as offensive to Asantes. Truly, there are descendants of both Asantes and Northerners, as well as Nigerians, in Jamaica who appeared there via the Slavery. Wode Maya might not have gone to other particular Towns in Jamaica where the Citizens claim and show many relics of the Akan/Asante Culture and traditions. So, the Lawyer should not take offense at the limited experience Wode had about that topic in Jamaica. Long Live Ghana!!!

He believed what he was told by his Ewe friend whom they themselves traded more slaves than any other group in present day Ghana. For the Ewes for example, any bad thing in Ghana was caused by Asantes, ie. slavery and overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah, despite the fact that the leaders of the coup that toppled Nkrumah was an Ewe and a Ga, Kotoka and Ankrah, but when it comes to any good thing even that happens in Asante, it was from them, ie. Kente and Okomfo Anokye

The so-called European merchants were selective, They did not take ordinary slaves. Even back then we had no slaves in our lands. Enslaving someone is against African culture! These so-called European merchants, kidnapped skilled people like, physicians, carpenters, masons, engineers, lawyers etc and sent them to the so-called new world to make themselves rich, to develop the western world. To let the modern Africans both home and abroad blame themselves, they wrote lies and placed these lies in the lie-bury(or library) of African universities. Don't believe these lies, because our ancestors were not stupid as they want you to believe!

Captives of war were put in that area of Kumasi and given cutlases. After some time, the then Asantehene paid them a visit to check on them and was surprise at their progress. They have build their area into big farms and were very prosperous hence the Asantehene exclaiming " S33 Dadie so aba " meaning the cutlases he give them has produced something special hence the name "Dadiesoaba"

It was the Jeewz first for more 3000 years they were known as the Hyksos in the ancient Egypt, before they became known as khazars, then followed by the eastern Europeans who are now known as Arabs from Turkey, Armenia, muguls, kurdish, Assyrians, Persians etc. Most black slave captors were done by the tuaregs of the Mali songhai empire that's why most people of these ancient African empire escaped to Morden day Ghana, be it Akans, Gonjas, mossi etc.
