7 minutes in, and so far nothing substantive that isn't already a cliche at street level.. 11 minutes and still nothing. NASA is now predicting food insecurity by 2030, and listen to the complacent smugness of these offer nothing specific sets of comfortably crossed leg theorist timewasters.. 16 minutes.. 21 minutes, and finally we're told that the solution for climate change starts with more transmission lines.. Wow, such deep thinking. 24 minutes, and green hydrogen is dismissed in 15 seconds... finally. 25 minutes.. AI is presented in a soundbite as a furphy in terms of making a real difference, and the conversation tangents away to more smug peripheral generalizations without bothering to say that the rush to transform society and consumerism with AI will require more additional electricity than the world currently uses.. not exactly a sensible strategy, when mankind hasn't even figured out how to deal with a potentially extinction level climate crisis of its own making. 31 minutes in.. and more abstract modelling without any real framework. This is all too deep for me..

Excellent! I really liked the format! I will make a suggestion: a video explaining first (and shortly) what is a commodity and (in a longer format) explain what is accounting and what are those Scope standards. I believe very few people have accurate understanding about those subjects. Thanks!

35:50 I've seen a transmission line tower being built - robots can't do that and won't be able to do that for a long time. It will be so long they'll probably use energy generated by hydrogen fusion when they become capable of building those towers.

around 24:00 - AI has shown good results in optimizing aspects of the plasma needed for hydrogen fusion. Now, AI companies want to make money out of it by making it into apps for everyone and that's causing LLMs to consume, in the US, almost 4% of all electricity generated in that country. On the advances in Electric Engineering: it is really complicated to put energy into the grid and the ability for homes to put energy back into the grid is a very recent achievement. On the point about the State doing the research: Brazil is really good in Electricity Transmission and hydro electric generation - we've also developed the best uranium enriching centrifugues ever. All that was made by the State!

18:40 That's why Small Modular Reactors are such a good solution: because they can be put near consumers and that would require less transmission lines.

9:50 That would be more expensive because of the grid infrastructure required. There's also the externalities (political instability and environmental impacts) related to extracting the metals needed to build the infrastructure and the batteries.

I dont think u need middle analysis, but is hard to think what these people say when analysis. We just have 1 non complex, derivatives, 2. Complex. Neither are maximization, maximization is like in calc ii, calc ii eng, calc iii, game theory 1,2... all throughout econ... Who knows how they cut up their courses

The biggest mistake that the United States ever did. . With Mexico and the rest of Latin America in our backyard. Those nations would’ve thrived and would’ve been a like minded trade partner. Instead of communist China who stole patents and played America like a bunch of fools.

But what do you think is the 'real' reason behind this phenomenon? Also, why can't a low survival surgeon learn whatever techniques high survival surgeons use to achieve those high survival rates? You seem to be proposing a pretty big policy change, but is it feasible? There's a huge gap between acad3mic research and policy implementation in the real world, and I wish you would have talked about the latter.

There has been no downfall at all of the succesfull free market system in Chile ("neoliberalism"). As a former member of the marxist government of president Salvador Allende, Edwards was led to believe that the young neocommunist president Gabriel Boric would attain his proclaimed goal of destroying capitalism in Chile and thus become a second Allende. But the people of Chile have voted massively to retain the economic system implemented by the Chicago Boys, including the 1980 Constitution signed by president Pinochet. Every poll now indicates that the next president will be either the daughter of a Junta member (Evelyn Mathei) or the brother of a prominent Chicago Boys (Antonio Kast), and of course both will keep and probably deepen the free market system.

Such a timely forum. Just amazing history for everyone to know. When UChicago was trying to set up an economic institute to honor the great economist, Milton Friedman, many leftest student protested for they thought Milton has helped the military dictator, but the fact was that he never had any close relationship with the regime. That's why the university named the new institute Becker Friedman Institute.
