I used two different blacks. Angelus Black Acrylic Leather Paint and Americana® black Acrylic Paint .

I just want to let you know I was so moved by this piece I watched it with my 6 year old daughter who has watched every episode of Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT. She has a voracious appetite for doing art and even she was like, "Ooooh wooow... how did she do that?", as she pointed her little hand at the screen. She LOVED the shiny resin coat btw. I've watched this vid like 5 f--king times already! Ha!

@@artbystacy in one word: pokemon. in WAY more than one word: popular anime subjects with a laser focus on what has me hooked on your channel: creating incredible looking anime subjects with traditional media that render perfectly flat base colors (with whatever you want to do on top of them). i think you're doing great work here but based on your upload frequency and views, something's missing from the equation that's stopping you from 'blowing up'. and as a parent myself, i know it's really hard to focus on anything else that's not the day to day of being the best mom you can be. i found your channel after searching if oils, markers, inks, watercolors, etc. could give me the 'flat anime colors and tones' i was looking for because that's the style i decided i wanted to focus on after being out of the art game for so long. and after seeing all those mediums have some kind of 'streaking effect' when layered on top of one another i then researched how anime cels were actually made back in the day and it turns out they were using acrylics and gouche to get those flat colors (i thought they used ink or something!). after learning that i turned my search to acrylics and bam... found your channel. in addition to doing pokemon just paint w/e is trendy at the moment in this space in addition to w/e you want to do. whenever a hit movie, video game, manga event, etc. drops on the scene do that. how would a scene from alien: romulus look like in your style? what about black myth wukong? what about that white haired shooter dude from the olympics? all these hot topics in YOUR beautiful style. that also goes to say to try expanding your work to include scenes that go beyond profile shots. i say that because i don't just want you to try pokemon. i want to see you WILDLY succeed. it meant a lot to me to see my daughter's eyes light up because of your work so i'm giving you everything i have/know to make that happen as a parent, as an artist, as a former content creator that's about to get back in the game and thinks about this sh-t all the time. and i'm sure you do as you're wildly more successful than me but i promise you i'll catch up! also start a patreon and use that as a way to gift your paintings to your biggest supporters if they're not flying off the shelves already! either that and/or a storefront like etsy. anyways that's enough rambling. i wish you the best and hope you blow the F--K up! :)

I wonder if there is anything that could be added to the black acrylic to make any subsequent layers less able to stick to them? It's a pain to draw the lines 3x. Either way great result. I can't believe you're the only one on youtube doing this exact thing (well doing this exact thing and the end result actually looks great).

I've been searching for a way to get perfectly flat tones in my artistic journey and the answer was staring me in the face the whole time: acrylics. You have no idea how much you helped me on my artistic journey. EXCELLENT piece btw although I think the resin distracts from the piece itself. Are there resin coatings that aren't so shiny?

Thank you so much! I’m glad I can help☺️🙌🏽❤️. I’m not sure if there is a resin less shiny? But normally with a painting when I am done with an acrylic painting I put a matte finish sealer. Looks so much better that way☺️🙌🏽.

Hey how long did you have to wait before putting the resin?? and do you think i don't have to wait 2 weeks if doing it on canvas?

For this ArtResin brand it will take 24hours for it to be fully dry. Same if you did it on canvas, but you might have to do another layer when it comes to canvas. 😁
