We had the exact same one. We lived in Brooklyn and I loved that thing growing up. I still believe it had the best, deepest sound of anything I've owned ever since.

I just acquired a Blapunkt Arkansas 58 console and would love to get it serviced (not working, powers on). If anyone can recommend a source in the Philadelphia region (or NJ or DE, I would be SOOOO appreciative). I'm striking out!

I accidentally partially tore off the "intensity" knob with a violent move and initially re-soldered the same selector back to its board. At first, the result seemed perfect, but when I pressed it, instead of performing the displayed menu selection, the oscilloscope's reaction was to split the screen, exactly like when you press the large time-base knob, and it also selected channel 4, just like when you press the button CHN4. I thought it was a problem with the rotary switch and replaced it following your excellent instructions with one from Bourns (USA), Type: PEC11R-4215F-S0024, an apparently exact replacement. The result was the same behavior as before: the rotating part works fine, but when I press the "intensity" knob once, the two described functions are selected simultaneously. The only explanation I have now for this anomalous behavior is that the switch function connection is messed up, and I wonder how to fix it. What would your advice be, do you know how to get the related schematic to check the connections with an ohmmeter? Could I somehow verify if the original connections have been swapped with others just by inspecting the board? Backlighting it? What I see could be the result of something else besides bad connections? Should I try reloading the instrument's firmware? Is it possible?

I finally fixed my problem with the uprooted encoder which took part of the pcb connections with it. The solution has been to backlight the board, locate the PCB through connections from underneath, little dots in the backlight images, and re-establish the connections on the encoder side. Not easy , they are 1/3 of a mm in size, my way has been to predrill , with a .3 mm bit, a very shallow hole where to position a copper wire before soldering it.

I have a larger model of a Blaupunkt that I inherited from my grandmother after she died. I can't for the life of me figure out how to work it, wether it works, or a place near me (Minnesota, USA) that repairs these. I'd love to get it working again or at least convert it to a modern stereo with any salvageable parts. Would anyone here be able to help?

Today I changed all the encoders of my Rigol DS1074Z with 24 indents. Now it better to select items because of indents. Part number I used Bourns PEC12R-4220F-S0024.

Thank you! After safely returning from the field where the little guy was perched perilously on top of control cabinets, I dropped it 18” onto a carpeted floor and broke the trigger encoder. Your video certainly aided the disassembly, but I’m most thankful for the encoder part number. While I found the non-detent encoders a little annoying, I would’ve never bothered to take it apart solely because of them. Now they are all replaced, and everything is better than new. Thanks again!

I think one issue could be that you are not reflowing the joints with fresh leaded solder before desoldering. old solder will not melt as well as fresh one. plus, this is probably lead-free solder, which makes it even less easy to melt. last, you should try not to cover too much of the solder to remove with the iron tip, or it will block the sucking of the solder underneath it making the desoldering incomplete.

Nicely done review! I have the same PSU that has started giving me some trouble - when I press the output button for a preset voltage/current, channel 1 goes to 0V, 0A. Any idea why this is happening? The other channel works just fine. I don't see the OV protection coming on either

Does anyone have a part number for SMD indexed encoders used in newer scopes like my DS1102Z-E?
@hansmoser1622 жыл бұрын
I now have a solution for DS1102Z-E. The Bourns PEC11R-4215F-S0012 works perfectly. 24 Detents at 12 pulses are perfect.

Got a question for you. I see that each variable channel has a +/- out. is that positive and negative voltage? So good for audio applications like stereo amplifiers and eurorack synthesizer modules? How do you hookup a normal positive volt circuit with this compared to one that needs both +/- 12 v?

So if you tested a cap from a vintage radio and it tested good. Would you replace it? Test all night and day if you want to, its still a vintage cap and guaranteed to fail , probably as soon as you button up the radio.

Your gesture is not correct. Your ss-02 has air leakage, the soldering iron can't work, and the heating is not enough. I have no problem using ss-02. It's easy to use.

I see the coil feed, and a pair coming back from the contacts, which I'm assuming is somehow series'd through all the contacts, and the program is looking for contact change of state at it's input, when ever it's energized. Just curious how it knows which contact is bad? Or is it just one set?.

Anyone know how to tell the build date of a Rock Island 574? My son gave me a nice one, and I cleaned it up and painted it today and mounted it on my work bench in my new shop. Looks real nice. Looks like it may have been made in the early 1900's per the Rock Island Catalog. Sold for $12.00 new. :)

I'm not positive but I think a 3 digit is after 1930. I have a 2 digit #74 and it looks like that means it's pre 1930. It's seems there is limited information, almost none, on Rock Island vices
