I knew Allen Wingate. In 1968 my dad went to pastor at the Church of God in New Smyrna Beach Fl. That's where I met Bro. Wingate. I was so inspired by Bro. Wingate and the red semi-hollow body guitar he played that I determined to play guitar myself. I do. I had this album, and one by Billy Brown as well. I still do this song in live concerts, and I first heard it on this album. Thank you for sharing it.

Miles, thank you for submitting your memories. Allen Wingate Sr. is my father. The guitar, I believe, is a 1966 Epiphone Century semi hollow body. The guitar remains in the family.

I have been searching for the Wingate family..I found this video and cried for the happy memories. My dad pastored in New Smyrna Beach in I think 67 & 68. I saw a couple of people in the video I knew. Thank you for sharing.

Great arrangement and job - love it! Yesterday 2/10/19 made 39 years since I got saved. According to the date on my lyrics, I wrote this in February of 1980, the first month I was saved. I didn’t remember it being that soon. Thank you for doing this and your kind words, Tommy. God bless.

This song represents my dad totally, just like God, my dad was a man of love. A man of forgiveness, a man who believed in mercy especially to those who wanted Salvation. I can't think of one time during my life where anyone could say that my dad treated them with anything less than love. I thank God that my father was like this.

Listen at 1.06 after the steel guitar break...Jimmy, my brother, said my dad almost lost it after the break. My dad loved the steel guitar, he used a steel on every album he put out starting in 1964, Beyond The Sunset... so I am assume that since he really didn't know what the steel man was going to play, when the guy played, he really played and dad almost lost it.
