If you pay close enough attention you can see that Dr. Sweets was Gormogon the whole time. It wasn't that the writer's just changed their mind about him being Gormogon. Also, I think he fit very awkwardly with the main cast and that Zack fit much better.

@@hiamyflp That doesn't fit canon. The really gormogon killer was killed off in season 3 and I belive their was a copy cat killer during either season 11 or 12 and it wasn't Sweets. Following the actual writting and characterization it was much more heavenly implied that Zack that was the copy cat killer. Even most fans fully belived it was Zack, it was surprise that Zack wasn't the killer (that was the shocking part) and after some many season no one belived it was Sweets and guese what it wasn't. The idea of Sweets being the Gormogon killer was an idea floated in the writting room that never saw the light of day and was written out of the script before the season was even over with. It was a tool they used ot misdirected us (the fans) to the surprise twist that Zack was the one working with the killer. The writers even out in hits that it could have been Hudgens as the killer just as much as they did Sweets, but neither were the killer. It was misdirect to surprise fans with how the actual apprentice was Zack.

Zack wasn't really all that innocent. Yes, he did kill or eat any one himself but he did help the killer murder a guard (that everyone in the Jeffersonian knew;aka that Zack knew), he helped the actual killer escape a few times, and covered up evidence to help the killer escape justice. He even caused an explosion to happen in the Jeffersonian to help the killer to break in and out of the Jeffersonian undetected. He was the guys apprentice and full belived the guys messed up logic, that the search for the killer go on for longer and Zack would be been guilty of murdered and catabolism. It was only Bones use of logic to disprove the killers logic that made Zack realize the flaws in the killers logic/action. If that never happend he would have killed/eaten people.

When confronted by Booth he displayed all the signs of an innocent person being accusing unjustly: 1) kept his answers short and to the point (guilty people tend to trail off and give way too much information) 2) no fear of being confrontational, raised his voice, immediately got in Booth's face when accused (guilty suspects tend to try to "please" their interrogator and be accomodating) 3) kept direct eye contact with both "cops" 4) "you guys actually think I'm Gormogon's apprentice?" => has no problem directly stating what he's accused of instead of using an euphemism, like "you think I would do such a thing/be involved in any way?"
