My life has brought me from Southern California to the Bay Area to New York City to Colorado and now back to Southern California. I've been through two divorces and more 'experience' than I ever thought would happen. Each time things change traumatically devastates in a way. But also reminds us of the power and hope in our shared humanity. Your positive attitude is what I love best about people. I've lived in many places in the USA, but my salvation has been Jamaica and Africa. Though relationships are always journeys, I now have the deepest love for and connection with Jamaica and through Jamaica, Africa - specifically East Africa. My connection with Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan is deeper than I ever could have imagined. I'm glad to be alive, happy, loved, and able to love. Jewells, I love your Icelandic horse video, and love this video too. I love Brooklyn and Iceland (from afar - I have a Saga book waiting for me 🙂). Thanks to people like you, life is so rich and full of love. Take care, and always stay you💞💞💞

Thank you, Jewells for everything. You are truly an inspiration. I probably would have been going off, crying, laughing and cussing. I truly believe things happen for a reason and it's how we react to those things determine whether you grow or go through it again. People come into your life for either a season or to stay forever but the main thing is to learn from it all. So, keep smiling and doing what you do. Listening to you made we want to come to Iceland. I will be there in August. It would be nice to run into you there. I have always visited tropical places for vacation and this will be the first time I go to a cold place. I just hope it's not too cold and I'm miserable. lol!!! It will definitely be a story to tell. Wish you the absolute best!!!

I am so proud of you all sharing your experience in Iceland. You all are very courageous to live where you are the extreme minority. Racism is real Racism is world wide. I hope this video will encourage folks to meet and greet someone of afro or African decent. You may establish an awesome friendship. God bless you.

1:00:05 well said! Dorrit Mousaieff, one of our first ladies said it as well back in 2008: "Ísland er ekki lítið land, það er stórasta land í heimi!"

Hello Jewells! We just got back from Iceland, and loved the beautiful open scenic roads-- AN AMAZING DREAM COME TRUE!! Although you are giving great advice about winter driving, we only currently have experience driving in Iceland in June (which based upon the potential stress of Icelandic winter driving, we may keep it that way). Although we opted to do our trip during the summer, we did opt to only rent a 4WD vehicle, since we wanted to be ready for any impulsive decisions to jump onto an F-Road. We were worried that a 2WD would limit us to roads that were only paved. As it turned out, by the end of our trip, we realized there was so much to see on the paved road routes that we never got to the F roads this trip 😂 ….but we still enjoyed the fact that we were 4WD READY if needed.

Seems to me Iceland really sticks it to tourists and fleeces them for everything they're worth. Just one more place that's been ruined by socialism.

Vik actually translates as Cove, not Bay, which is Flói. There´s a distinction, common for Icelanders not knowing that for they dont search deep enough in to the actual meaning of words. They just take the first word that the dictionary suggests. Common simple peaple I guess.

We stayed in Iceland a few years ago. I am a black woman and so is my partner. There was some staring, but people were very polite and welcoming. If it were a child staring, I would go up to them and introduce myself to the parents. Kids wanted to touch my skin. Ok for kids not grown adults.

I spent a week in Iceland and only learned to use basic greetings. But everyone spoke English and they all gave a big smile. They really appreciate the attempt.

I was just in Iceland a week ago with my husband. This country is breathtakingly beautiful, and I think about being back there every day! I have joined many social media pages about Iceland and came across one of your videos. This was the 3rd one I watched, and I was shocked and heartbroken to hear that you and your husband parted ways. It is interesting that the first video I watched was the one that you explained about the Icelandic motto "thetta Reddast" (sorry can't pull up that Icelandic p) I truly believe that "Everything will work out okay"! You are very brave to post this video revealing your heart break, but you show so much strength and you still shine of positivity even if you are crying on the inside while smiling on the outside. I also believe in everything happens for a reason so I feel optimistic for you! Sending you hugs from Brooklyn, NY❤ (just not too close, I'm allergic to wool😊)

I am trying right now to relearn Icelandic. I spoke fluently as a boy in Iceland, but instantly forgot the language (Unfortunately) when we moved to the States at the age of 10. I am using the Pimsleur tutorial while driving semi overnight and I am currently on lesson 6.

I was just there a few days before this was posted! I was not aware of the 2 different sides until I arrived, Apple Maps took me to the platform side. It's an ok view, but I agree hiking into the canyon is the much better option. The platform side was good to use the rest room and grab a snack before driving over to the other side to take the hike.
