My grandfather ended up taking one off a body he mowed down with a beltfed machine gun. He said the barrels would get so hot they would melt and had to change them out. Anyway he had to saw it in half to fit it in "luggage" on the airplane back home.

I’d think a shorter barrel could have less kick. But 22lr and 22mag already have nearly no kick. I’d love to see a 1/2” barrel, a sealed cylinder design.

I also wonder if firing these out of a rifled shotgun would have solved the problem with the low muzzle velocity and stabilization.

If when installing a bullet on the gunpowder there is over pressure, why not just pour in less gunpowder and shorten the cartridge case?

7:42 when we heat seized stuff up over here in the states we'll spray it down with pb blaster or something else that'll soak into the part. Wax, and petroleum jelly also works well

I mean so long as you keep the pressure and forces the same or less there's no risk. Issue is the powders burn differently so without some deeper understanding it's not something you can just eyeball.

Why not just use Pyrodex? It is made specifically for black powder firearms, but it is considered a smokeless powder. Burns clean, too.

I would like to recommend that if you’re going to continue to experiment a pair of the commonly available “cut resistant” gloves be worn. It’s clear that you have highly productive digits and it would be a shame to lose any. That said the video was quite informative and I was wondering if you would consider using smokeless powder with some sort of bulking agent like bicarbonate or hydrated salts? I’m curious about this but have no kind of testing facilities.

Thank you very much for the explanation. I have question: I burned two 7.62 gunpowder from two different bullet of the same manufacturer. The first one had tubular powder in it and the second had disc powder. The disc case burned for 9 seconds, while the tubular for 3 seconds. Those rounds are made for snipers, so I was thinking, in the video you say that flakes are used for shotguns and pistols, and tubular for rifles, but if the disc case burns slower, wouldnt it make sense that a sniper rifle would want a slower burning powder to achieve longer burning time due to longer barrel? Thanks alot!

SCIENCE! Well done, but still utterly insane. I had one of those stainless Pietta .44 Remingtons, liked it a lot, but it only wanted to shoot roundball, so I gave it to a good buddy, Now I have a .44 Remington Pietta "Buffalo" with the brass frame and the long barrel, I made myself a shoulder stock for it (the one from Taylor Arms was twice what I paid for the pistol, so no.) and I like it a whole lot more! But I wouldn't put smokeless in it for any reason!

DEAD WRONG, evapo-rust is one-of the best working products when used correctly, it is NOT designed for that king of thick layer caked on rust after socking in vapo-rust over night , the parts should be wire brushed with a rotary brush as far as i know vapo-rust never made claim of removing 100% of the rust over 100% of the item 100% of he time
