Thank you for bringing up sensitive topics. I always wondered why Zouk doesn't attract enough beginners the way Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba do...I believe, in general, arrogance and judgement are attributes which mimmik the impression of exclusivity. I don't believe that Zouk or tango communities in general are that way. However, I can imagine, some group dynamics in some particular local communities might lead to that impression, since a small group dances a very specific and skill based dance. I wish Zouk community would actively prioritise and openly advocates Inclusivity (All "Bodies", Gender, Ethnics, Ages etc are welcome) as its high value! The dance itself is a dance of acceptance and has so much potential for creating deep connections between human beings...
