FFS, it's not a price drop. Foundation had all features and accessories included - hence the high-ticket price. Take them all away and start adding them in manually and you'll actually end up with a more expensive product, especially since they're not including Premium Connectivity for ownership duration.

650 W nominal solar isn't a lot, it won't make much a of a difference on a electric truck that is used and can be "plug-charged" daily. Maybe useful in niche cases, and solar on vehicles is probably great for electric vehicles that for some reason is used infrequently, like when they're old, and kept more or less as a spare when replaced as the "main" vehicle. And maybe it can be very helpful for that kind of people that run out of gas despite passing a hundred gas stations since the fuel light turned on, just because they might be able to make it to the next destination without refueling.

Every year, as technologies improves, it becomes more and more compelling to start adding solar cells directly to vehicles. I'm so excited for the day when practical solar charging cars become the norm.

robovan + tunnel == please do the math on how many people you can transport and look at how many people actual trains transport. Ultimately, it is just a poor train.
@etherealicer5 күн бұрын
Let me do the math for you 1 Schoolbus with 70 kids, add in 1 teacher to supervise == 2 humans required (driver + teacher) @14 seats you would need 5 robovans (provided the teacher is not sitting) == 5 people to supervise. Yay, autonmous driver saves -3 people.

I count 14 seats, no place to hold on to... so 20 is as optimistic as the original Cybertruck price/range/capability.

Anyone who's taking public transit knows that it sucks to be stuck behind other trains loading and unloading passengers, and if repairs are forcing single-tracking, those complexities are compounded. This is why Metro trains are ideally long. Instead of needing a million individual 'pods' or 'buses' in this case, the same throughput can be achieved with less traffic congestion and fewer complex autonomous systems. Trains & light rail are very easy to automate if built correctly. This tesla bus will likely not replace buses nor trains, because it fails to be either. To carry cargo, you have to stop for longer to unload the front and back, like a taxi or a Greyhound. Trains can carry people and their bags within the cars. They also have super low rolling resistance because it's rolling steel on steel, making them green, energy efficient alternatives to driving. Ultimately the best ways to get around are micro mobility devices such as e-bikes, Onewheels and electric scooters mixed with metro or light rail for longer distances.

We in Europe prefer futuristic design, Musk prefers futuristic visions from 1950s. I bet he just has many old journals and get his inspiration from there. Rocket landing - very old idea, hyperloop too, EVs, even bad customer care with don't give a toss attitude comes from previous century.

It's not as exciting, but they also tested putting the booster back on the launch mount and reconnecting the connectors which would be used to refuel the booster in the future. This makes having a launch cadence of every hour look like it really could happen. I thought my dreams of what could be done in space died with the Space Shuttle missions, but this has made them seem even closer to reality as the cost to launch heavy payloads drops dramatically.

I think utilizing them as a more or less drop in replacement for traditional fixed route transit buses has huge potential. Being autonomous and having insignificant maintenance cost, it should be possible to reach the same cost to operate a significant number of robobuses as the cost of operating a single traditional diesel bus driven by humans. Having a bus with capacity for 20 passengers pass by every minute can be much more efficient than a bus with capacity for 100 passengers every five minutes, and much more convenient for passengers, and if the 20 passenger buses are electric, and autonomous, a much cheaper option.

Are the American people ever going to demand that our justice system fix itself? A shoplifting crime for under $200 results in a 6-month jail sentence. This man stole hundreds of millions of dollars through fraud and will do just barely over that. White collar crime = $300 billion in losses annually Retail theft- $60 billion The differences in the sentencing is repugnant and should alarm anyone in our society. And considering a child who stole an ice cream from a school cafeteria was sentenced to 3 years, it's super strange that a grown man stealing hundreds of millions will spend less than that in jail for it. And he will get out again and defraud other people. Is it time to fix this issue?

Cool, BUT, unless the vehicles are going to be getting electric from a rail (and even then) EV's are a fire hazard and could be deadly in an enclosed space.
@0berholzer10 күн бұрын
I do agree that electric vehicles are way way WAAAYYY more dangerous when they catch fire, but it’s 11 times more likely that a combustion engine car is catching fire. So it kind of equals out. The other part is, if an electric car is catching fire it’s likely that it’s charging or something (higher electricity flow, and thus more heat in the battery) which it self only makes it safer in terms of, there is maybe nobody in the car. I’m just laying out the facts, i do agree with you that it would make more sense if they remove the battery and directly get the electricity in the car wirelessly or by electric rail-system ( i don’t know what wird to use for “electric rail electricity transfer system”, i’m not a nativ speaker)
@PaulfrmTXtoCO9 күн бұрын
@@0berholzer Not sure how accurate the claim is. IC tends to catch fire in accidents, and EV's have caught fire on the road when not being charged. Also relative to numbers, millions of gas vehicles have not caught fire. Lithium Ion seems to be the main culprit, but alternatives are not as efficient on energy exchange.

When the cyber truck passes the bare minimal truck test: 4x8 bed for carrying standard sized panels of anything, park it on a grade and hose out the cab for clean out, costs a hell of a lot less than a house, anyone can fix anything with a simple set of tools, etc. ... then I might care about some of this fluff.
