I GET the preservation process is important overall so fixing years and rips And paint chips are important... but in my personal opinion as someone who loves the aspect, feel and authenticity of history i feel the crackling in the painting should be kept because that shows his age over the years... i feel it should be preserved as CLOSE to the original as possible BUT still do show its age.. thats a part of history and the story of the painting IS the history. But that's just my opinion i suppose i guess im the kinda person who loves seeing the age in something bevause it tells a story

What a lot of careful and methodical work to renovate this old book with an ugly cover.

looks like watercolour paper stuck to a piece of hardboard backing replaced by a better natural wood board.

I would love to be able to learn how to do this and actually make it my job. I've been studying art history for a while and I'm very interested in on-hand approaches like this. Wonderful work <3

The master performed a real miracle! He's just a magician! Such people should be valued for the weight of gold - after all, they give a second life to musical instruments!

I really don’t like how the narrator constantly says that past attempts of restoration are low quality. They may’ve done the best they could with what they had at the time.

I find this painting absolutely superb. The softness of the execution is the signature of a great artist. I have been painting watercolors for about 50 years, and couldn't come close to this effect.

you should use a different not needed painting to test the mix for cleaning the painting

There are a number of things done to this painting during restoration which, frankly, horrify me. The restorer used cello tape on the front of the painting! Quelle horror!

My only "complaints" are not all of the names of products and tools used. Such as the squares of something that looked like wax. What is the name of the spoon like tool she rubs across the painting? Is it an iron? Why is it used? So many things that I noticed. I will say on an odd side note are the restorer's fingernails. They're clean and kept well manicured. All in all a fascinating video! I thought at some point a water solution would also be used to wash away grime. Again, well done! I hit like and subscribe because I like this video.
