Sonu Nigam had full music to support, he looked best, Shankar did exactly like khan sahab, Sheraya also did great with different music....Jubin is out of this league.

No one is anywhere close to legendary Mehndi Hasan. But Sonu Niganm was the best of the four here cause he sticked to the original composition and kept it simple. Shreya Ghosal was good too. The rest of the two were disgusting. Sorry Shankarji your modifications did not work.

My order of liking..😊 1. Shreya (Perfect!) 2. Shankar (Nice, but couldn't maintain vol at ew places) 3. Zubin (Nice, but couldn't reach high pitch) 4. Sonu (Needs practice!, out of pace)

The credit not only goes to legendary singer Ustad Mehdi Hasan but also goes to Legendary poet Ahmed Faraz and Legendary Music director Nisaar Bazmi who migrated from India in 1962 and in India used Lakshmi Kant Pyaray Lal as well Kalyan jee Anand jee as an assistant music director.

Alas! I don't find any of those versions good enough to enter my regular Playlist. Papon has created totally different and most original version created by himself. He has heavy voice like Mehadi Hasan, but he lacks in creating emotional connect. Ali Sethi takes away all the gravity and sings like a sentimental pleads instead of a deep inner outcry. And the lady begins with pronunciation "Ranjisi" instead of "Ranjish Hi". I like Richa Ji's version most. Still not something I would put on a loop They are no doubt legends and I love them in other songs but not here. This one doesn't belong to their versions.
