This indian adaptation looks over a very important detail that possibly ended up damaging reputation of Indian Army. Gump was able to enlist in US army despite his below average IQ and disability because the movie is set during Vietnam war and since US required a lot of soldiers, they lowered the required criteria for enlistment. However, India never faced a similar situation. Even during wars, there were enough healthy average (or higher) IQ and abled body people to join army and fight for India. Hence the central plot of Lal joining the military is beyond unrealistic and frankly makes Indian Army officers look bad. Instead of a soldier, Lal could have been professional athlete, chauffeur for important people etc and somehow adapt the screenplay such that its more sincere and somewhat realistic.

Amir khan hasn't changed his expression or acting since 3 idiots. PK, Dhoom 3 same expression..,same autistic child like acting. And same in Laal Singh Chaddha. This film is nowhere near Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks is marvelous.
