Glad you got something good from my video. Over the years I've learned to control the splatter by finding the heat level sweet spot...Not too hot. It also depends on what your cooking... Bacon & High fat content foods tend to splatter more. There's an old trick i use while cooking sausages in a skillet.... adding a bit of water cools the grease which avoids burning before they are cooked. Also..these Blackstone griddles are pretty reasonably priced $$ compared to say Weber Grills . But I also wanted to make the point that Blackstone Griddles are a very different outdoor Cooking experience and taste than Flame grilled Traditional Charbroil, Weber etc Grills. I have both the Blackstone and A moderate priced 4 burner Charbroil Traditional Grill depending upon what I want to cook... Charbroiled burgers vs SMASHBURGERS

Over-wintering 2 coleus. How often should I repot? What size pot should I go up to? I have one in a 4” pot (it came in a 1” seedling pot 2 months ago). Roots are growing thru the holes in the bottom. Thanks😊 Hope you’re enjoying the holiday season with friends and family!

Hello Alexis... A 4" pot is really like a baby crib... they soon need to graduate into a new " bed" . As far as pot size consider a few things.... Its Still Winter so I presume it is indoors... Also what is your end game with your Coleus....will you be planting them outdoors into the ground... will you be creating pots to sell....Do you have larger outdoor Pots around your Property as I do and eventually will transplant to those. As for Pot sizes...the Larger the Pot you place your Coleus in... the Larger they will eventually grow like my Two 20" Ceramic planters on each end of my Deck which grow huuuge Coleus arrangements each year as featured in many of my Videos on KZbin

@@Jimswholiestofcoleus Thanks Jim. I plan to plant in pots outside in the spring. Dirt outside is not good for growing plants and flowers. Don’t have mammoth pots, but I’d like to put in a larger pot in April/May when the weather is better. I’ll get like an 8” or 9” pot for now. Thanks for the link!

ABSOLUTELY.... The extra wide Filter Coffee Ground Basket along with the stainless steel sprayer head promotes "Turbulation" which assures the Grounds get well saturated . If you really love your coffee.... I find that most brands that are preground are medium ground. I prefer grinding my own beans and grind them fine which extracts even more flavor. Also I use a few different Favorites... #1 is Gavalia Colombian Ground... it is already ground extra fine and the flavor is outstanding!! I also buy Eight O' Clock Bean Colombian and grind it finely and lastly McDonalds McCafe Colombian Grind is excellent but I grind it extra to a finer texture which again extracts the best flavor when brewing. As you may have guessed I love COLOMBIAN COFFEE!!!

Thanks for watching my Channel!! Hope you get some good pointers. Yes I keep these Rootings going all Fall, Winter and into Spring by water maintenence.....changing it occasionally but regularly adding water....and making sure they are in a bright location. I find their growth starts to slow down as Winter progresses... so I rarely trim the tops. They do appear Leggy but that's not legginess but rather that I cut long stems as most will be buried in tall deep outdoor planters. I also find they develop tremendous rootballs which have always turned out Awesone healthy plants ie my Ongoing Lord Voldemort Coleus which I've kept going for nearly 10 years by Rooting and Planting and Rooting season after season. As for seeds I do sell seeds on my JIMSCOLEUS Ebay listing however I do not have any Space Cake.... I am overwintering one now but No seeds. Perhaps next season I'll get seeds from this plant. Hope I answered all your questions !!

I just installed a new thermostat kit in my Bunn VP17-2, and I couldn't be happier! After 20 years of faithful service, the old thermostat finally gave out on me. Thanks to your video, I learned about the stainless steel basket, which is arriving tomorrow-perfect timing for the holidays! I also made sure to grab that part for the bottom of the basket. Your video was incredibly helpful; I discovered your channel while searching for the thermostat kit. The thermostat kit was a breeze to install. These are likely lifetime machines in a residential setting environment. Wishing you lots of happy coffee brewing and all the best for 2025! My starting instructions say to fill the tank. Do you keep in filled and then add again when you make a pot?
@Jimswholiestofcoleus
@Jimswholiestofcoleus 23 күн бұрын
Hi mariann.... Exactly... Once the tank in the machine is full ......any water you put in afterwards is displaced ...in other words... If you want to make 10 cups of coffee.... You POUR IN 10 Cups of water.... that 10 cups displaces and forces out 10 cups of The 180° Tank heated water. . I Personally ran about 10 pots of water through the machine before making my first consumable pot of coffee.... sort of like how you run water thru a water filter when first replacing it in your fridge.

@michaelgray1123 Hi Mike! I've had many cuttings that didn't make it....but I have found certain varieties which do best like the Hearty Fishnet and equally hearty...Lord Voldemort. Some of the lesser more delicate varieties like the Defiance in this video react more drastically to the stresses of being cut, and subject to lowering sunlight conditions. You will find the sweet spot as the years of experience rack up and you watch my videos where I purposely repeat the most important points. In the end it should be alot of Fun ...not a stressed or chore. Thanks for watching and buying my Seeds Mike!! A Very Merry Christmas to you as well!!

Last year I kept about 20 different varieties of coleus cuttings in about 50 small glass vases and I got about 75% of them to limp along enough to make it until spring. Then those cuttings just took off during summer and were fantastic. This year, I've got about 50 pots again (some in water and some in soil) and about 20% have bit the dust so far. The ones in dirt (little nursery pots) are the ones that struggle more. Sometimes I think it isn't worth the effort keeping cuttings over winter as they are quite pitiful by the time spring arrives. But I keep at it knowing how many gorgeous huge pots I had for practically no cost. I've got 3 more months of full winter (I'm in Nebraska) until I can tote them inside/outside during the day so I'll see if I keep at it.

@jrwalton101010 If you got hit with a Frost and the complete plant sort of turned black and ALLL the foliage is dark folded down then probably. If it was just stressed from a very cold night and you see stems with healthy looking color you may save it only by cutting the stem and wet Rooting it. Otherwise it sounds like you may have lost the plant

Good morning Jim. I’ve been watching several of your videos on Coleus seeds and planting them over the years. One thing that I’ve heard several times is that you said you only sell non-patented legal to propagate coleus seeds. Is there a listing of coleus seeds or coleus plants that are not legal to propagate? Where would I find it?

Nice greenhouse! I've watched a lot of specifically your content the last few days, you're extremely informative and friendly, and make content on exactly the species I was considering! Thank you very much for making the content. I grow medical cannabis in a very large facility with around 270,000 plants, and have grown very accustomed to their care, and wanted a legal option to grow something decorative in/around the home. It might sound funny, but the plant structure of coleus is very similar to cannabis, specifically in the node pairs, the internodal spacing, and the way it tends to (attempt to) shoot up vertically. Flowering is very different, but coleus flowers are not the goal anyways. The only question I'd have, if any, is whether it'd be a bad idea to start seeds early winter in your experience. As in, a seedling can grow in a tray assuming proper temps, humidity, and water until their roots are too developed for the medium as I understand, but they also grow somewhat slowly? If I were to start a seed in December with the intention of transplanting more developed youngsters to a larger pot in, say, March, would I be asking for root binding? I may just wait, but I did buy some wizard velvet red seeds and some great exhib palisandras as well. Our home has ideal lighting for these guys, but we don't run our heat often, the wife wouldn't accept "pretty plants" as a reason to run the heat even if it drops to 30f. (Welcome from 9b, north Florida pine forests).

@nathanhimmerich2 Hi Nathan 👋... Appreciate you watching...hope you get some ideas to apply to your Cannabis. An interesting controversial subject being politicized.... but im sure it will work out. I have Family in Siesta Key... which on the growing zone is different than yours. Now I toyed around with sowing earlier December in my indoor greenhouse .... which is 2 months earlier than my usual. For me...I did not find any significant benefit because my Farmers market starts in June. So by then they'll be in my outdoor greenhouse... and really the size difference was negligible.... but you may benefit...even with occasional 30° temps..I think overall you being much closer to the equator will get brighter daylight earlier than here in Zone 5/6 NJ Coast. But try...grow a sample ....experience is how I've learned over the years.

Hello. Why do you remove the large leaves on Coleus?
@Jimswholiestofcoleus
@Jimswholiestofcoleus Ай бұрын
@pallemejlingolsen8187 Removing the larger leaves aka as Trimming does a few things...but the means to the end is GROWTH PROMOTION. Larger older leaves may get tatered , ripped, and rob lower growth by using much of the nutritional energy from the soil. They may also blot out much needed light. Or it may weigh down the plant if too large. I also trim larger leaves when I sculpt the potted mature plant during maintenance trimming. Scroll thru my many videos....I have many videos explaining " Trimming" Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!!!

Hi Jim , loved the video , the indoor greenhouse looks awesome , especially like the shelving and the grow lights ! Looks very sturdy and roomy . I bought some coleus seeds from you , do you have any Darth Vader seeds to sell separately ? 💖💜🌺🌻

Thanks Jim! This was my first video on coleus and my first video on Holiest of Coleus. I had just gotten some coleus cuttings and wanted to keep them alive, as I had failed in every plant I’d planted since moving to Tennessee. I noticed the lady that I bought the coleus from had hers in planters and you had too. So now it’s two months later, and I know I’m in the wintering season, but I was able to keep my coleus alive for two months! And I’m so excited to try to winter them and plant my seeds I bought from your EBay store! Now I’m hooked on coleus! I’ve watched some of your videos as far back as two years so far. I’m a fan!

Excellent Alexis!! Be patient...don't overehelm yourself as I did starting out by not realizing those tiny seeds like St Bernard puppies will soon grow to be big plants so start off with a modest plan with your planters... ( I grew 1,000 Coleus one year) too much even for my Farmers Market. Over time experience and applying things I've repeated many times over in my Videos you'll start to improve and have fun!!! THANK U SO MUCH!!!

No worries mate....Coleus are so easy to grow and plentuful...there's really no need to feel obligated to Overwinter the pots in mass... This is my Routine....A very small # of Overwintered pots... A Bunch of Rootings ... and I take the Late Fall & Winter off. Then do it all again with late Winter sowing...
