Jim, that “Wizard Rose Fireworks” is GORGEOUS! And the “Lord Voldemort” WOW! My Gosh just look at your Fishnet Stocking! 😱 Holy Flocking Schmidt, that’s one beauty! Personally, I love coleus that is slow to seed. Hit that baby with some bloom booster and it’ll be blooming in no time. 😂 Your Defiance is beautiful! Love that variety so much. Mine is getting HUGE! Your Saturns are awesome too! How the hell can I even pick a favorite?! 😱 They’re all stunning. I guess if you pressed me, I’d say your Fishnet and your Saturn. And your Wizard Rose Fireworks! Ok and your Defiance. LOL 😂 All of them, basically. Haha, so funny about the calibrachoa! It’s so cool that you say it correctly now, though. But I hate to burst your bubble, whatever those are in that pot they are definitely NOT calibrachoas. 😂 I’d have to see them close up, but they look like 4 o’clocks to me. The Zinnia flowers are very beautiful. Nice job.

My wife and I love coleus but we are in a small apartment with a small balcony. We have coleus all summer. As the season ends we buy bottles of water at the dollar store, remove the labels, put in some glass marbles and our cuttings. The bottles take up very little space on the rolling shelf in front of the sliding door to the balcony. As soon as it is warm enough we cut the bottles away from the roots and plant them. The small mouths of the bottles also keep the water from evaporating too rapidly.

@martinemorgan9713 Coleus don't require alot of fertilizer....but good quality Potting soil a well drained area or pots and General Purpose plant food certainly makes a difference. They will. I just can’t get over how BEAUTIFUL your coley plants are this year. Spectacular. Great job, Jim. Thanks for taking the time to show us all your plants. Some of the zoom-ins took my breath away. 🥰 Your “Spitfire” (hope that’s name, if I recall correctly) is taking off like wildfire! I want that one so bad! Stunning. The zinnias are so pretty. You can collect seeds from the spent flowers, so leave a few to turn brown and dry out. If they get cross-pollinated, you could end up with some beautiful new varieties next season…even some bicoloured ones! 😍

Hey Sherrr!! Having my 1:33 am Coffee...and 3 organic Clementines for a little snack... First night shift back after a Week off.... but I did get some rest earlier before my tour. Yes the humidity and rain has done wonders. I checked all my Soil Ph....90% are between 6.5 & 7 which is good for Coleus... had a few in the 5 range.. but they were smaller pots...but a sprinkle of fertilizer will up it a bit. I don't think Ph has ever been an issue but I still check it . I've been playing around with less Sun exposure on those piñata and they seem to be getting a bit more color .... Mariposa as you saw getting undergrowth . The past 3 Sales have more than paid for All of my overhead...pots, Soil, fertilizer..... So last week and the rest of the remaining sales are gravy ( I predict my final sale in early August). I have a zillion Mosaic seed stalks in my Greenhouse separated which I think should be pretty pure. On the far side of my Garage I have moved my Monster Saturns Rings which has a KAAAJILLLLLLION Seed stalks already. It's the same little one I Overwintered and hand pollinated with the brush. Those seeds I planted and were true to the mother so I'm fairly confident they should be true although I know you mentioned how easily some my get cross pollinated. But I'm always planning ahead and setting up my seed trays . My Son will be home Saturday. I have an Airport Car service picking him up at the Airport which is my treat. He's Done really well over in Florence. Great feather in his Resume 👨‍🍳 toug!!

I live in Phoenix AZ so it's hard to know how much to water . My plants are in home under grow lights , some are doing well but the odd one starts looking bad and then dies . @Jimswholiestofcoleus 15 күн бұрын
@susanchrist6511 Hi Susan. Very tough to keep any plant going in extreme heat. All I can say is don't fixate on the amount of days or times you water but how the soil looks & feels a few inches down ( should be dark or moist not soggy) but not directly after watering. Soil quality and it's water retention abilities comes into play too. If you suspect overwatering then skip a few days...unless the coleus is clearly droopy and soil dry. But also avoid the complete drying and watering cycle. Or water regularly...but not as much too until you feel the coleus is looking better
