I remember seeing this movie years ago.

Nobody believes me when I say the movie used two trucks for this scene. One had a manual transmission the other one had an automatic. For starters, when ryan starts up the truck, it starts with clutch pedal pressed & release it right away in gear for that quick take off. As the chase goes on, you can hear the sound of the Quadrajet carbs sucking up air. You will see ryan drive sometimes drive with his right arm down & other times both hands on the steering wheel. When you do see ryan drive with right arm, he is driving manual & can hear how long it stays in gear. And when you see ryan driving with both hands, he is driving automatic. The movie may show us ryan is driving automatic when shown gear changes but manual drivers out there can tell the difference. If you own the movie, give it a good watch & listen or even a playback. It is about when I say about the movie smokey & the bandit, they used both automatic & manual trans am cars
