What temperature should the iron be set to? I tried patching a leading edge with Synthetic setting in the iron, and repeatedly applied on all the surface for about 10-15 seconds each zone, but when I pumped the kite up, the Dacron hadn’t adhered correctly.

This is an ad meant to make someone feel good and think life goes so well and happy. I thought 100 dollars for a repair kit seems really steep, but then I realized it was the cost of a drone deliver repair kit. If you could send that anywhere for 100 then great. 10 repair kit in your pocket would be okay too. But that’s not being adverted. The video shows no repair or damage. And it implies that the guy had a hole in his bladder and fixed it alone while still being happy he did it all there with his 100 dollar kit.😔🙄

Is this Dacron, sail tape, or something different? Trying to figure out what it what and how to use it. No answers anywhere but lots of people talking
@kevinbradley96013 жыл бұрын
Its closer to a ripstop sail tape but with a heat activated thermoplastic film on one side. I believe they also make a dacron type tape that is also heat activated.

yeah, but how hot do you have the iron?? Surely if its too hot you will melt the fabric??

Maybe, we’ll find out in a few years, if they reply

You should warn users that before they finish peeling the loose valve off, they must mark the orientation of the valve. Orientation is almost always important due to the outside velcro strap on a multi-point inflation kite, and even more so on a kite where the valve has a 90 degree elbow that needs to point in a specific direction.

+Charlie E Thanks for the feedback! I will make more videos to show the procedure in more detail. It is however hard to make a video to show how to repair every type of valve...

I was impressed with this at first, but for a panel repair with time the patch got stiffer, and the edges separated from the fabric. Kite repair shops I talked to recommended not using the iron-on because it could not be replaced later, and would require a panel replacement. Since then I just use the standard sticky tape for repairs.

Hi Gregory, Thanks for the comment. Self adhesive repair tape would never hold on a leading edge. That is a fact. The shear forces involved make the tape slide off the surface of the kite when inflated. KITEAID`s Thermoplastic adhesives have a shear resistance 5 times the strength of pressure sensitive tapes that you mention and therefore hold up to the pressure and stress.

If its leaking out of the top can i just use marine glue to build up the rubber?

You do not need glue for the bladder patch. The bladder patch has its own adhesive. There is also glue included which is for reattaching delaminated valves.
@ChickenWingChampion13 жыл бұрын
Hi. Do you know what type of glue is used for doing bladder patches? Thanks.
