I think having a simple cardholder is better than using a rubber band for all your cards.

Found this video now, so I’m a bit late. Good tips though. One thing, if you’re in Canada, and I presume you are based on the money, it is illegal to carry pepper spray. Bear spray can be carried in certain areas (bear country, not downtown city), and should not be concealed. Otherwise, that’s a slippery slope too. It’s almost like they don’t want us to defend ourselves. 🤷‍♀️ Apparently there’s something called dog spray that we can carry (but not for use against humans 🙄). Seems it’s very similar to pepper spray, but maybe not as strong?

@@simpleveganbeing What advice would you give people who are struggling with OCD and want to use minimalism to Help Them Fight The Monster that is the OCD?
@simpleveganbeing
@simpleveganbeing 5 ай бұрын
Hi @micaylab1 thank you for your question. 1. OCD can be a clinical condition that may require professional therapy. 2. My first humble advice would be to seek profession counselling to get an assessment and how to handle it. 3. My second humble advice would be, nothing will ever be perfect. No matter how perfect the videos look there are still imperfections in the videos and life. That is my honest truth. I personally aim to be as simple as possible but when it starts to constantly bother me then I know that it is just time to just take a step back and see the big picture, how much I have achieved and be grateful for it. I am never going to be perfect, but I also do not want to completely ignore basic hygiene, mental health, and inner peace. I sincerely hope this helps you. Once again I am not a clinical psychologist or a clinical psychiatrist M.D. I would highly recommend talking to your primary care physician M.D. to get a medical assessment and how best to work with it. Thanks heaps, much loving kindness, compassion and empathy to you. Plant strong, animal love, planet peace. SVB.🤗

I feel like this is about the essence of life - of my life. Thanks SVB! I am so glad to see that you are back in action again.

I'm actually looking into a new vegan podcast as well on the same channel so if you are interested hopefully I'll have one going next year. It's already October! Totally agreed. @simpleveganbeing
@simpleveganbeing Жыл бұрын
Hi ya @lindabourketempleton4040 nice to hear from you. My ancestors lead a furniture free lifestyle which is difficult to imagine in the west due to the cold climates. But I am well accustomed to sleeping on the ground on a thick cotton, tight weave mat, and my foam cushions as pillows. I use a blanket of course in winter. I was trained this way whenever I visited India. The first time I saw this I was shocked but it does my body wonders. I do live with another person so after our move we will buy a bed. That said I can and have for many years during my education slept on the floor and it is the best thing for one's back and muscles from a biological and scientific perspective. I also sit on the ground and get up from the ground. I have now been doing this for 2 years instead of owning office furniture. We did own a dining table but yet again both my husband and I come from an ancient ancestry that is accustomed to furniture free living. We sit on the ground to eat and eat with our bare hands. Extreme minimalism or just being super eco-conscious and living simple?! Thanks heaps, Plant Strong Animal Love Planet Peace.

I also do not consume palm oil for ethical reasons as it is horrid and also destroys massive rainforest ecosystems that house many species including the orangutans. Breaks my heart. I found the carnivore diet as being very minimalist. I have 1 fry pan, 1 sauce pan, and a crockpot. I live in 1/3 of my cabinets and 1/3 of my fridge. Simple, nutrient dense and ancestrally appropriate. Grocery shopping is simple. The health benefits have allowed me to eliminate all my meds, creams, and hygiene items (your sweat doesn't stink when your on a proper human diet).
@simpleveganbeing
@simpleveganbeing Жыл бұрын
Hi ya there. Thanks for your kind and thoughtful comment. I absolutely appreicate it. Great that the carnivore diet is working out for you. I love it 😍 I come from an ancient ancestry (3rd oldest civilisation on the planet with possibly the oldest first known language), and the birth of so many practices adopted by the world. For almost 9000 years we have been taught ahimsa, non-violence. Without boring you too much I have stuck to it. As a raw vegan, like you too, I do not need any pots or pans, no stove (landfill gadget), no oven (landfill gadget), no microwave, no dishwasher, no freezer always empty, no fridge (but I use one for convenience), no cooking ladles etc, I do not have to cook, clean, scrub the pots or pans, or clean the stove oh and no horrible rangehood to take out the smells or have to clean it. My ancestors did not have any of this and so despite growing up in the West I watched them when I visited and adopted their diet and ways. Additionally because I do not cook I do not use much electricity either so that kinda saves me a tonne of money especially down south were electricity is expensive and oh gas stoves in Australia, NZ and California release high levels of toxic pollution. Additionally, my carbon footprint is super low as the diet is void of methane emissions where methane is 28 times more powerful than CO2, per IEA, EPA scientific data and more destructive. Plants use CO2 for a bit. I can get into the scientific details but facts and figures are boring. Forest fires are more interesting that affects everyone ... sadly. We are taught the principle of karma. We are all connected. What goes around comes around. I can explain the scientific basis of this principle. It is along the lines of graph theory which I will let you figure out. Not to mention the plant diet I follow has profound healing effects on the body according to Dr. Caldwelly Esselstyn, pcrm.org, Dr. Michael Gregor, American Heart Assoc, Australian Cancer Assoc. and a tonne of other medical professionals and scientists. In the West sadly physicians schooled in a certain way of thinking saying eat plants is considered blasphemy. But in India 1/3 rd of the population almost the size of the USA is naturally strict lacto-only vego. So asking them to kill and eat animals who feel pain and fear of death is considered blashpemous as the religion says no to killing any living being as that reduces the humanity in us and reduces our levels of consciousness. Sorry for the long reply but thank heaps for your comment and being minimalist. I absolutely appreciate it. So happy it is working for you. Much love, kindness, compassion and empathy. Plant Strong, Animal Love, Planet Peace. SVB.☺

Oh and I forgot about the deforestation in the Brazilian rainforest caused by animal agriculture and soy and corn production purely to feed the animals. Where do the animals get their Calcium from ... technically was suppposed to be grass and plants but you know animals these days are fed GMO corn, soy, antiobiotics that causes a proliferation of antiobiotic drug resistent super bugs, zoonotic diseases, swine flu, avian flu, harmful e-coli, pig waste dumping in the rural poor south in the black communities which is just sad, with lawsuits, and the list just goes on. Anyways, it is just overwhelming the amount of first hand experiences the human species is going through out there to mention it all and the overwhelming evidence from the scientific community and honestly just using plain old common sense to see if things add up even with or without scientific studies that I am well aware can be biased and corrupt. I think at the end of the day here is what I have learnt. Obey the laws of nature and the rules of the universe or perish. I had to sadly learn this the hard way. Denial is not an option for me unfortunately or identity based on misaligned historical and cultural practices void of common sense and logic. If what I am doing is working for me then I must be doing something right, if what I am doing is not working out for me ... consequences starting to show up, then may be what I am doing is wrong and I need to change my mind. bottom line, if i do not behave per the laws of nature and live in harmony with mother nature, she will take me out, cause she is ultimate power not humans who think we can "engineer" our way out of this mess we have created due to our egoistic identities as pointed out by the vedhas, tibetan buddhism, zen buddhism, even christianity when the human interpretations have been stripped bare revealing the ultimate truth, kindness, compassion and empathy always towards all livng beings. as gandhi and chief seattle said "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. I hold that the more helpless a creature the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of humankind." Gandhi. The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself. Chief Seattle.

I am a minimalist and have lived that lifestyle for at least a decade. It really started for me in 1981. I had a stereo cabinet. It played and stored records. I was soon overwhelmed with more records than space. That was when I made a rule that I could buy a new record if I removed one. Minimalist rule #1; 'Don't have more objects than you have artful space for'.

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. Wow a decade is a long time. Thank you for not contributing to mindless consumerism, that only adds more trash to landfill and destroy nature through the toxic sludge during production as well as post production. I love that you are consuming less, aware of the planet and the other species on it and living in harmony not adding to climate change. We need more conscious aware consumers like you who understand to buy used, not new, and understand that the whole point about minimalism is to live simple and live without harming anyone or anything on this beautiful earth that you and I share in with loving kindness and harmony. I have a lot to learn, thank you for sharing. I appreciate this. 😍 Plant Strong, Animal Love, Peace.

I used to make my own laundry powder but my clothes got a bit dingy. I started using the detergent sheets about two years ago and they are working well. I live in a small apartment and do all my washing in a five gallon bucket in the bathtub. I even wash my sheets this way. I just hang things in the tub to dry. Works well for me. I have only used vinegar for cleaning for several years because my cat has a heart condition and allergies. It works well and keeps the house very clean. I look back to my grandparents and their families. They had zero gadgets, save a vacuum and an iron. They all survived, made beautiful, delicious food, maintained clean, decorated homes and canned their abundant gardens, using only 2 knives, some jars, a few spices and 2 large pots on fire pit outside. My grandmother grew everything they needed in a 16x16 plot in the back yard, I know, I was the one who used to help her plant it. Need clothing? They made it, with the best material they could afford. I remembered being fascinated when they had shoes made to fit and order. Can one even imagine? The were educated and learned English, in books from the library. If someone was sick, the neighborhood came together to help with food, taking care of the home, or even just offering simple conversation. They took care of what they had. They were immigrants from Italy, from around the 1900's all the way to the 1970's, and they lived this way their whole life.

Finally they gave in a bought a washing machine but I can totally relate. Thanks heaps! I hope to continue to share my story through this channel and stay true to living in harmony with nature and each other! Lot's of love, plant strong, animal love, planet peace SVB ☺

@@simpleveganbeing This is lovely! I have a clothesline, despite the HOA here. LOL Families worked hard but it was about stuff or material things with them. They were always neat and clean and mostly, KIND and giving! Keep sharing their stories! Maybe society will catch on again! <3 from Texas.

Hi SVB! OMG - I am totally with you. I now try to only buy that which I need - 2nd hand too. I can tell I don't need stuff as much anymore. My happiness rests within myself. That was the biggest lesson I finally had to understand and accept as I felt that the outside world was saying/brainwashing/pushing to say that I don't deserve to be/feel happy if I have not acquired certain things in my life. Those big things are no longer as important to me in that size and quantity. I want a simple but safe and healthy and meaningful life for me and those around me. All animals (except reptiles - sorry reptiles!) are my friends. I love how streamlined your home is. With less stuff it is so much easier to clean, maintain. My mental health feels so much better. And that is the biggest most important thing. Physical and mental health. Thanks SVB and I look forward to your next video!

Awww thanks for this profound comment. I appreciate it a lot and you have totally hit on the central message. Stuff is just stuff. You deserve to be happy no matter what or how much you have or do not have. At the end of the end all we have is ourself and the people who care about us, and truly speaking that is all we need. Also super happy you are supporting the animals by not hurting them and buying second hand / thrifted! I love love love the Salvos right!!!!! 😍

I've been on my minimalist journey since 2010. I had relapsed with cancer and had to find a way to move thru my life. I got rid of almost 75% of what I had. I still am removing, decluttering even after all this time. Different things are no longer valuable to me that use to be. I like your freshness in this channel. so many of the minimal channels, decluttering channels jsut say the same thing over and over ad nauseum.

It is wonderful that you are also on your minimal journey! 😍 I am pretty confident that you will find your own style that brings you internal peace all the while looking well put together for any event, as it has for me. I know this much for sure, when living minimal is done correctly we all end up living simple but with so much more deep internal richness in our lives. Thanks heaps for your lovely comment. OMG. I loved this video release! It was such a valuable point. I feel that I have gadgets that are helpful when they work - but they take time, effort, $, and more parts and pieces to maintain and fix. I feel like I spend so much time taking care of things than taking care of myself. I love simple - straightforward - easy to fix, self sufficiency, natural. I am not here to say that I am unappreciative of tech developments - they have been quite helpful - absolutely and I thank the people that have invested their time and life to create/invent solutions. But I also see how to maintain the solutions, we have to come up with more complicated costly solutions. I think for me personally - I am also thrift store shopping, donating my items to thrift stores so others can benefit too, and also saving more material being put into landfills. Love the video SVB! Everyone out there - this is worth the watch guys!

Thanks for your highly articulate and accurate comment that pretty much sums up this video. I could not have put it into more better words. 😊 Love love love thrift store shopping! So much better than buying new. I agree giving something a new life feels altruistic as well which is always a good feeling for the soul. Yay, thanks heaps and keep watching! 😍
