This was very informative, great video. I am in south Texas and building two harpoons. I plan on going sword fishing and thought I may need them. I would like to purchase the cam for holding the line that’s very nice. Thanks for posting this with all the information.

Nice thanks- why do you not rig with egg sinker? Do the baits stay upright with the spring without the sinker?
@MrEli204 Жыл бұрын
I’m guessing because the islander head is like 2-2.5oz so no need for a chin weight.

It seems the braid is geared towards heavier line, whereas the twist is for lighter line. No doubt both are superior to the surgeons loop & spider hitch.

Great Video! What type/test of main line are you running on your reel and what type of knot do you use to connect the wind on leader to main line? Thank you
@tournamentcable3 жыл бұрын
On that outfit we have 80lb test Momoi mono. A loop has been formed using an Aussie Braid which is then connected to the loop on the main line wind-on with a cat's paw double loop to loop.

Use a two inch piece of black drinking straw to cover up the wire in front of the head of the ballyhoo....hides everything. Just put the straw piece on your leader, work it over the cabke sticking out. Looks just like the bill is still there.

Beautiful rig best I’ve seen yet and for bill Murphy Skilled anglers catch fish not barbs they are sweet for holding bait on though

I know this is an old video...but it gave me a good laugh. The next level is to catch less fish? Up next, new and improved snake oil.

You don't bend back the barb with a knife? If hooks twist and turn on a fight hook could slide back out?

do you prefer to terminate the end of your main line on the inside or outside of the main pulley attached to your rigger? how far to one side or the other and why?
@tournamentcable6 жыл бұрын
Ryan Monroe The further away you seperate the rigger dredge pulley and the dredge line will eliminate the line twist. You create the V to avoid the lines from doing this.
@tournamentcable6 жыл бұрын
Ryan Monroe you want to terminate the end on the inside so it's easier to reach.

They certainly look good from above, but speed and distance are my concern. Any video from under the water to demonstrate performance, i.e. go pro camera?
@tournamentcable9 жыл бұрын
Hi Janus, As of right now we do not have underwater footage, but the pins are good at any speed - they just go faster or slower depending on the speed of the boat. At higher speeds you may need to add weight to keep them down, but distance from the boat also factors into that equation. Give us a call or an email and we can go over specifics for your spread, 800 979 3474 or [email protected]. Thanks for the question!
