I just came across your video tonight. Great insight to the compressors. I just had the MORRFlate compressor delivered today. It was on sale for 20% off for Memorial Day. I was shopping for three in your video. I chose the MORRFlate because of their customer service, the steal braided hose, and their coupler.

I love it. I'm doing a similar flavor to my 1988 Suzuki Carry db71t. I've got a a new bigger crate engine and I'm currently having a cutting and welding conversation with the front differential cross member about engine fitment. I'm hoping there are no disagreements. 👍

Outstanding video and info- My only question is Unless someone is monitoring a repeater- ham Radio isn't gonna do much- Not sure about the other radios- unless someone in your group was a dedicated monitor- We have done that in the past when out with my old club- I've been looking at garmin and those emergencies satellite transponders- Unless I'm missing something there if so please let me know. again thanks for the video I know how difficult it must have been for you to bring it to us.

Please take this the right way… But did you just tell all of us you got life flighted because you split your lip?!? Oh lmao!!! Good kind of laughing anyways. I’ve had a few close calls myself so I know the stress, broke my back snowboarding… just so happens that a gondola car fell off the cable the same time as my accident, so all of ski patrol was busy on that, I lied there for at least an hour before ski patrol even got to me. Fully recovered though. The other a close call wasn’t me but I was there and helped save my buddies life. Snowboarding again, this time in the backcountry (snow machine access). My buddy hit a tree hard (very badly)… broke his femur, compound break, his bone cut his artery in his leg. We used a belt on his leg and took turns jamming our thumbs into the artery, he lived and fully recovered as well.

@@spencerpuente5445very good question and I’m happy to help how I can! I honestly have no idea if the JCR divider will fit with the Diabolical side panels. Anything can fit with some custom fabbing. @popo_patty thank you! I reached out to Alan, great call. Sorry one last separate question but on a similar train... I want to take my soft-top off over summer/fall and want a canvas top that is good enough for the freeway/light water exposure. There aren't many options and I'm thinking of going with the default ford canvas top since everything else out there is in the same price range and none of the options have very good reviews. No worries if no input but had to ask. Thanks again.

Thaks for sharing your experience. That is how we learn. Looks like you did so many things right. And a few things still went sideways. Many years ago some heavy indusry certified riggers shared many horor stories with me. Biggest shocker is when you start calculating the impact velocity of the total mass of that jeep has on your forces on all that rigging. It is terror worthy. After contemplating that i never used a hard fast jerk again. Lots of snow shoveling though. Dig into the details people it's fastenating the more you learn the more you learn theese things are very technical and there are endless seeming things we did not think to contemplate to ask before. Especially the material sciences will catch you off gaurd. Also terrible things happen in the extreme cold to many materials. Insurance agencies are starting to write exclusion clauses for theese reasons that are shutting many rigging and heavy equipment jobs down in these conditions.

Glad you’re okay. I know hindsight is 20/20. But why didn’t you just spend the 2 minutes in hooking the Clevis or Bow shackle and feeding the kinetic rope through and then reattaching the Clevis/bow shackle back to the bumper? I’m not making fun I’m genuinely curious why you decided to go with the soft shackle instead?

Yea I found out that the alarm isn’t super accurate either. I was in a 35mph zone once but it thought I was in a 25! Good news is that if you stay above the limit it won’t keep sounding. It’s when you dip back below and then above again where it will keep sounding. I’m sure the aftermarket will figure something out

What is the spelling of the company who makes these? You said "Cartstelle"? I can't seem to find it on the internet. Also, did you happen to ask Thor's Lightening why their valve was different than advertised? I wonder if they would send you the correct one (as advertised) if you asked?
@popo_patty

www.carstel.com/ here is a link to their site. It’s a quality control thing is my best guess. I’m sure I can get it swapped out but I’m not keeping the compressor anyway. It was part of the process for checking quality control. I’m also not very impressed with Thor as a company from what I’ve discovered during my video studying (which didn’t all go into the video as it wasn’t relevant). Then even more stuff came to light after the video from stuff people sent me after watching my video that further made me no longer want to do business with them.

Great review. I bought the Thor's Lightnin version without the digital controls after talking to them at Super Cel in BV 2 yrs ago. Works great and they are local to me. I did notice that this compressor doesn't like airing one tire as you said. It will do it but doesn't like trying to push that much air through one Schrader valve. I also have the Smittybuilt compressor that I've been using for several years. That one still works fine.

Damn, lots of R&D and coin spent on that rig. One additional item, I suspect CA Tuned also made a custom spare tire holder as I don't think the small door would open with that size spare in stock form. That I think will be key for lots of users to have a USA made solution for the spare tire.

Future video, like I said, going to go wheel. I can’t answer what I don’t know cause that isn’t helpful and I could go into endless detail on any number of things. I can answer a few questions now though. With the 8 speed transmission, I didn’t feel any issues with gearing or pickup. Similar to the Bronco that doesn’t require a regear to go from 35’s to 37’s I didn’t notice any issues in my limited time with it. As far as driveline angles, the caster is fine. An alignment fixed that as it’s not outside the specs yet with the very minimal lift done. No noises in driveshaft. Drove straight and true with no issue. I’m happy to go into the technical details later but this video wasn’t about that.

Did you consider CO2 tanks at all? I've been a Power Tank (Not affiliated nor a sponsor for them) user for almost 10 years now and have never looked back on the need to use the compressor to air up.(Keep one as a spare for myself and others). Running 35's and airing back up @ 20 psi, takes about 40 seconds. If I keep an eye on the remaining weight of the tank I can fill @20 tires on a single 10 lbs. tank. It's been a great bit of kit over the years.

I use 10lbs CO2 tank too. The problem is I don't keep track of my tire refills and there isn't a guage for CO2. 🤷🏽‍♂️A compressor is lighter, more convenient, and less expensive than carrying a second bottle for me. Other than that, a CO2 is the way to go.
@tlw8886
@tlw8886 5 сағат бұрын
@@PittiesAndMore The "weight" issue of the tank can be a problem. I can get fairly close to guesstimating how much gas is left in the tank by lifting it, and so far I've never run out but once I'm back home, I'll plop it on my shipping scale and confirm. If there is "enough" left I'll take it out one last time before heading to the gas passer and refill it. And as noted before, I do keep a backup compressor in the load out.
