Regarding your points about Canada, we're not that much better here in Australia. Manufacturing is all but gone, house prices are absolutely ridiculous (much worse than the US), our country is bursting with natural resources (especially iron ore, gold, silver, aluminium, lithium, gas, copper, manganese, offshore oil, coal, zinc, rare earths) but the left is in control and prevents access. Where we do have access to it, the profits are wasted on money losing government cash splashes. We all but disarmed ourselves after a shooting in the 90's, we had very low debt and never used QE until COVID but now we're on the same path, we have the second most gold resources in the world but only have 80 tonnes that we keep with the bank of England, we have enough oil to sustain ourselves but we pay market price for it and keep our reserves in the US... Madness. Like Canada, Australia has the potential to be a resource super power and debt free but our politicians are destroying our country. They are making us weaker and poorer.
