I don't think so. This cat just killed on a whim, didn't have an army, didn’t demand a maiden sacrifice, and was killed by a sword not a dog.

We actually do have some idea of how to get up to the speed needed for the 10 month round trip to Neptune. It's called nuclear pulse propulsion( an idea that dates back the '50s), but it involves setting off nuclear explosions behind the craft, which seems like a bit of overkill for a probe(As it is a system best used for heavy payloads), and would require lifting the restrictions in the Space treaty that forbid nuclear detonations in space. But hey, maybe they thought it was a good way of getting rid of some extra thermonuclear warheads hanging around. Being confused for someone else by name is not something I need to worry much about. There is only one other person in the US who has the same first and last name as mine, and he is a distant relative.

I'm familiar with it, but in addition to the treaties, nobody has found a way to make it practical yet. I wonder if ion propulsion could do the job.
@janus195820 сағат бұрын
@@dwashbur I considered an ION engine, but after doing the math, it's a no go. If we assume that we accelerate halfway there and then brake the rest of the way, you'd reach a top velocity of 672 km/s at the midpoint. The NEXT ion thruster has a specific impulse of 4170 sec, which is the equivalent of a 40.9 km/sec exhaust velocity. To work out the fuel requirements, you use the rocket equation: Vf= Ve *ln(MR) with MR being the mass ratio of (fuel+ship)/ship Rearranging gives us MR = e^(Vf/Ve), which, with the numbers above, gives a required mass ratio of ~9,000,000. The entire Saturn V only massed 3,000,000 kg. So you'd need a craft three times larger than this to get 1kg up to this velocity. And this doesn't even take into account the fuel needed for the braking and return trip. Factor those in and the mass ratio jumps to 6e27 or roughly three times Jupiter's mass in fuel for every kg of payload.

J. Pauline was Spring Byington. In 1909 Byington married Roy Chandler, the manager of the theater troupe with which she worked in Buenos Aires. The couple divorced about 1920. Between then and the mid 1930s, she devoted her time to developing her career. In the late 1930s, Byington was engaged to be married to an Argentine industrialist. Following an engagement of a few years and several months, he died unexpectedly (maybe in a pasta machine mishap?). She then devoted her life to her career and family....no spaghetti men.

Saw this Land of the Giants episode on METV after I woke up at 3:30am and couldn't get back to sleep... BUT then I missed the ending.... as I channel surfed during the commercial break and stopped on the movie FULL METAL JACKET at the hard-core scene where a crazed Private Pyle shoots his drill Sargeant in the chest after Sarge said "What is your major malfunction numbnuts!" By the time the scene ended and great R Lee Ermey RIP was dead... it was 4:01am and this LOTG episode was OVER! The crazy FMJ scene was far more interesting than the ending of this silly nonsensical episode where NOTHING made sense! 😆 But I just had to know! The ending was even dumber than I thought it would be. 🤣🤣🤣 One can almost feel their brain cells dying watching it.

In his own cartoon show, Aquaman can throw balls of hard water (like snowballs) at enemies. He can also create an underwater whirlpool/tornado by spinning like a top. Why does he not do any of those things in his fight against the Hydroids, and later against Batman and Robin?
