I have all of my Grandmas doilies. I have a bedspread that she made for me for a wedding gift 50 years ago. They are just sitting in a bag and in a drawer. And I now make doilies for wedding and Christmas gifts. I love making them.

I cannot find the DIY clay paint nor a transfer similar to yours. I prefer NOT to use the transfers where you peel of the top and bottom layer but ones like you used. Where can I find them? I tried Makers Studio and see nothing remotely similar. Thanks

Ok so I thought I’d be adventurous and try this technique on an antique desk. I’d already had two coats of primer on it and MEANT to just try this on one drawer first to see how it turned out. Well, my early onset dementia kicked in apparently and I marked up all the drawers and the whole desk with spots of two colors of paint. I tried this technique on a drawer last night and wiped off the paint today and don’t like it. I’d rather paint the dresser white and distress. Now what do I do about the places I’ve put the other paint on? I put on a brown and mixed another color a little lighter that’s a grayish brown. What do I do now to salvage this project? And yes, I’m a beginner. So mad at myself. Please help!

Good on you for trying something new. But I do understand the frustration of something not turning out how you had hoped. I not a professional and have only painted a couple of pieces for my own home. My suggestion for you would be to either try sanding it right back or if sanding doesn’t appeal to you as it can be a big job or use a paint stripper. A good low odour one is the brand Citristrip (that’s probably not the correct spelling). I would try to watch some videos of people using it first. But the instructions on the bottle are pretty clear. I think watching a lot of other furniture upcycling videos will be of a huge benefit. I watch most of them on mute and at 2x speed. If they do something I’m really interested in then I’ll stop it and start again properly. Doing this makes it faster and easier to find a channel with the style you like and or the process you want to perfect. I hope this has been of help to you.

I think you will have to either sand the painted areas or remove the paint from the areas you have painted. I would try sanding smooth first. Then paint with the desired colors.

Hey friend! Yes I use acrylic and chalk paint on my oysters. I use Redesign by Prima transfers and also A Makers Studio transfers. I also use gold leaf paint and gold acrylic gold paint. Finally I use a sealer like clear gloss by Dixie Belle. I hope this helps.

Kitchen cabinets would you clear coat it with Poly? Has anyone tried this technique on Kitchen cabinets?
@Shopallyoops Жыл бұрын
I would definitely give it a couple coats of poly in a kitchen. Or a top coat like Rethunk junk tough top or Dixie belle gatorhide. I have not done this on my kitchen cabinets but I have had customers that did and it worked well.

It’s distracting the way you have your camera angled. You are looking at the ceiling rather than your viewers. It’s also a difficult angle to see what you’re doing while you’re working.
