Hi, I bought some of the gel to thicken up my paint but when I make a dot, it ends up being pointed and not nice and puffy. How do I get puffy dots???
@HappyDottingCompanyАй бұрын
There’s particular drops for puffy dots eg Nuvo drops that are straight from the bottle. However when using your own paint mix you really have to layer (load up each dot) and work the dot into a perfect shape eg with a stylus. It’s not easy and certainly don’t recommend for beginners. Watching @artofpoints you’ll see what I mean 😊

I have the larger dotting tools that are slightly rounded on the ends and it's hard to make a nice dot. Should the larger tools be rounded or flat on the end?
@HappyDottingCompany2 ай бұрын
I consistently hear people have poor results with large tools that are rounded on the ends - they were actually developed for clay modelling - but are now sold for dotting by sellers that have never painted a dot.

I got some dotting stencils but I still don't understand how to use them and various designs to create. Where do I start?
@HappyDottingCompany3 ай бұрын
Hi Nancy, It depends what dotting stencils you mean. To be honest many stencils that are advertised as dotting stencils by different sellers don't do this art and the stencils aren't much benefit. I know @Fairmaidenmarket uses a lot of stencils so you may want to look at her website or social media channels.

Can I ask what tool you're using to make the large dots (the center, etc.)? Also what surface are you painting? How do you apply this to irregularly shaped rocks?

Hello, Anjela. What type paint do you use for the background? Any tips on how to avoid brush marks?
@HappyDottingCompany6 ай бұрын
I just use acrylic paint - (no particular brand) for the background colour. If you getting heavily textured brush marks you could try thinning your paint with some water (give a couple of coats if necessary) or use a finer bristled brush if you think the bristles are very coarse or stiff. I wouldn't be too fussy about the background as any art you put on top will hide the background.

Hello, I just bought 3 Happy Dotting Company molds and I made my first mandala stones using UltraCal 30. My question is, can I use Portland cement in these molds? Has anyone tried it? I’m thinking, if I used Portland cement they would be more durable. I think they would come out of the molds just fine but on the other hand I don’t want to ruin the molds I just bought. So if anyone has tried Portland cement with their molds let me know how it went. Thank you.
