Can the sugar it spits out in the beginning (that collects on the bottom of the bowl) be reused later? Or is it just known to have a slight margin of loss? Or can the machine be turned on for a minute to heat up to reduce loss? Thanks!

If the sugar is collecting in the bowl you are likely starting with to much sugar. Based on experience, yes you can turn the machine on and add the sugar as it is spinning but be aware if you miss sugar will become a projectile and hit anything around. Watch your eyes!!!! Please note, manufacturers do not recommend this procedure but it is more practical.

These tabs help direct the airflow so the sugar hits in the center of the netting.

Can you tell me how long the ice will stay cold in the snow cone machine? I have an outdoor party from 6pm-9pm. The temperature high is 80 and it will be in the shade.

You should only shave the ice when you are serving cones. While the machine is insulated it is not refrigerated and ice will melt fairly quickly. The best snow cones are when the ice is fresh!

There is a couple of things that can cause a machine to shake . 1st check that the knobs black plastic knobs on the side of the machine are loose so that when you push down on the head it moves up and down. If your machine doesn’t have that it might have two screw knobs on the top of the machine where the tub sits. If that doesn’t fix it you may be putting to much Sugar in machine or something internal like a spring could be broken .
