Microsoft 365 cost per year: AUD$159. Microsoft Office 2024: AUD$219 which works out at about $44 a year if the next paid upgrade is five years again. Why on earth would anyone limit themself to the free web version or purchase 365 at this price?
@EverydayApple198417 күн бұрын
I think the simple answer to that is that they only need Microsoft Office on rare occasion and don’t want to spend any money at all in order to do that. That’s my exact use case.

@EverydayApple198410 күн бұрын
It's actually quite common for companies to give 5 GB of storage for free. It's a drop in the bucket for them. Then if you want to upgrade for more features and space, then you do it. If you don't want to... then you don't. No tricks involved unless they start asking for credit card numbers and you aren't clear why. With the online MS Office, it's pretty clear that you can maintain the free account as long as you want and have that 5 GB of space. I, for one, would never come close to filling even a fraction of that because I only need Office for the occasional use case.

To insert a shape, you have to go to the Insert menu, and choose "Drawing". Then you can create shapes. To edit them, you have to right-click on them and choose "Edit Drawing". It's a little clunky, but you can insert and format shapes.

Hi Jason, I am struggling with icloud. I have some documents on my ipad and some on icloud. It greys out the documents and I don’t know how to open them. I want to save everything on my iPad but need to save the icloud ones first then remove pages from my icloud backup. I hope this makes sense. Could you or do you have a video on saving and finding documents.
@EverydayApple19842 ай бұрын
Hi Valerie - Sounds like a scenario that may need a few minutes with an Apple Support rep to help you sort that out. I'm not sure without looking at it why you would have some of these documents greyed out if you are signed in to iCloud on all devices. Good luck!

what if you are using a microsoft operating system? You can't download Pages for free? Normally it is free but microsoft store has it for $10.
@EverydayApple19842 ай бұрын
Apple does not offer Pages for the Windows operating system. Pages is designed exclusively for macOS and iOS. However, you can use the iCloud website to access Pages via a web browser on Windows. Just sign in with your Apple ID, and you can create, edit, and download Pages documents directly in your browser (or export them as Word docs.)

So what is difference between this free online Microsoft service (as shown in the video) & the one which Microsoft provides free for STUDENTS (those who signup student id) ? I too have a student mail id, so should i login with student id or as you shown in the video? Which will be more beneficial?

There’s a big difference, and you should definitely go with the free education plan with your valid student ID. With that, you get the full desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, and Publisher. Plus, 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage. Take advantage of that student ID while you have it!

If you go to office.com you should see a link underneath the two rectangular buttons. The link says "Sign up for the free version of Microsoft 365". I double checked today in a private browser window where I am not already signed in to Microsoft and it's there. Take a look at the :45 mark of my video to see that link. Once you sign up for an account through there, you can use the free web version of Office 365.

I think its better *not* having a home button. Those home buttons wear over time. I upgraded from a super old iPad Air from 2016 not just because ios was unable to update further, but also because the home button was starting to stick. Even back then, there were ways to use the tablet still without the use of the home button and I resorted to having to do that. I think losing the home button is for the better. Just takes a little getting used to.

A HUGE RED FLAG!! When attempting to set up a Microsoft Account the following MS permissions, which I would have to agree to, came up before I could proceed: "Your important things are right here. When you sign in, things like your contacts, passwords, favorites, browsing history, and photos and files are available across Microsoft products." WOW! This is so very risky and makes anyone with an account very vulnerable to identity theft. So what's a suitable and less risky alternative?

I always prefer Apple Pages, but this video is for people who need/want to use MS Office, but don't want a paid subscription for it. It doesn't mean that those things are somehow publicly accessible.
