All of that looks hacked around to run on DX6, it's pretty insane they got this kind of support at all in there. Definitely amounts to having another renderer on the side.

the colored shadows are an artifact from rendering the textures (or the whole game) at a lower palette than the original, i think the limited color space is 16bit (65.5k colors) instead of 24bit (16.8mil colors), it affects all textures but it's most obvious on dark textures, they always have a greenish or purplish shade instead of the proper grey.

@@uncleho1945 Meanwhile with 32mb of RAM PS2 was handling at stable FPS Jak And Daxter, Gran Turismo 4, Transformers, MGS2 and 3, God Of War 2, Enter The Matrix, Ratchet And Clank, Burnout 3, Zone Of The Enders, Silent Hill 3, The Getaway, Black, Crash Nitro Kart, NFS Carbon, Clock Tower 3, etc. The RAM may be lower on PS2, but it was way faster. Its also irrelevant with what i said. A PC from 1998 is much weaker than the PS2.

@@uncleho1945 Micro Design said that PS2 is like 16 times more powerful than a Pentium 3. Watch MVG and you would realize why. Xbox may had an advantage for PC ports, true, but thats mostly brute force, not a better optimization job. Also, a game like HL2 would probably had liked having the vector units for the physics.

@@mopeybloke The levels themselves have less polygons than even early PS2 games, and the level geometry is fixed compared to Black. HL2 shined more in the amount of varied textures per area and of course the physics, but i already gave the proofs as to why i think it wouldnt be impossible to port, just difficult.

@Micah John Do you know anything about Shieldy McSoary not working on Playstation? I keep trying to get it to work, and although the shield up in time with the menu, nothing happens on the other side of the loading screen.

@@Tumbledweeb Unfortunately it’s patched out of the next gen versions of the game, you’re only chance is to install the PS4 version. Not sure if that’s available for digital (I know that it is on Xbox).

@@MicahJohn21659 Well, today I discovered how to bypass the trigger that disables Director Faden's powers and Service Weapon whenever she enters Central Exec. And it seems logical to assume that it can be used across other areas with the same trigger function. Whether or not it would be of use to speedrunning, I do not know. But I assume that if it is of use, then you guys know about it already.

Absurd fake video 1 fact: you had to restart the game to launch in other DX level 2 fact: the game you show as DX6 still shows BumpMapping, SHADOWS, and Lighting... on DX6? 🤣 3 fact: DX levels had nothing to do with the texture resolution, another lie No, this is not DX6... if you load the game on DX7 it actually looks WORST AS THIS VIDEO, you had to reload the freaking source engine wtf. And obviously thats not a DX6 video card. I lived Directx from the 1.0... that videos of cultural apropiation are lies that only kids believe now. @@MicahJohn21659 DirectX 6 did not even exist on PC 😅 5.2 - > 6.1 and DX6.1 had no transparent shaders and dinamyc lighting, it will appear Just as a poligonal light and the transparency will not show or show purple, its easy as that. There are videos of the HL2 beta on the XBOX with lower DirectX and is that how it shows 🤦‍♂️transparency Off so on purple or black and dynamic lighting Off so Just poligonal. Draw distance or resolution makes the video seems old right but it has nothing to do with the freaking DirectX 😅 you mad? I played at 768p with a freaking Riva TNT2 and GF2 KZbin is full of scams like that "low the resolution and tell its old" no "bro" the people Who actually make Source engine work on old video cards ahd to program the engine, because Dxlevel60 is a bug, is not running on dx6, and you cant change rendering on the fking console you had to restart, scam. The guys Who made Portal RAN on nintendo64... That is real, and had to be Programed
