Anti-personnel boarding drone supplements a boarding party well, IMO. You can either support it with your boarding party directly, or split the defenders between two rooms. Either way, for an all-in boarding strat, I think it works wonders. having said that, I think it's perfect in B-tier here. It has a niche but there are better drones to take up your slots.

I like the chain vulcan. Of course it is better for the longer fights like the flagship, because with 2 flaks and 2 bl2 most fights are over until the vulcan has spun up. But when given the time, with pre ignitors and as many autoloaders you can get your hands on... Vulcans are SICK!

Heavy laser 1 is actually good. It is super cheap on power and can knock out weapons very quickly paired with something else to knock out shields.

I prefer the Shriek for boarding. Two guys who each act as a hull breach to drain the oxygen and a mind controller from the start. You can even take out drones since you don't need oxygen.

I think is better to put down the tear of laser drones because you cannot pause and timing shots at 0 shields. I mean: if you have a laser on your ship and an attack-drone you can charge the laser and wait the drone to shot down the last shield, pause, fire the laser from the ship, unpause and deal damage to a "naked" enemy ship. If you have a ship with projectiles and a laser-drone, you do NOT know if the laser-drone will shoot exactly when the last shield is exausted by the projectiles (from your ship): it can beam before the projectiles tear down the last shield or after one shield is repowerd.

First attempt failed because I somehow didn't notice that they were runing away. Felt really bad getting an earfull from Ruwan. Second attempt didn't have a fully upgraded med-/clone bay, so miffed to still lose Ruwan. And the third attempt was a compleat success.

The L chainger for 1 power seems low key powerful not gonna lie.

Cloning is one of those things that sound super synergistic with a boarding run but in reality its just a hassle. Having the boarding crew at 100% health at the start of every battle makes encounters very predictable. If your boarding crew has random amounts of health suddenly you need to micromanage and change how you play completely.

I won my first ever run on stwalth A after this video, and it's definitely become my favourite ship in the entire game. I got super super lucky with a ton of stuff, I focused a lot on getting a ton of shots per volley (which really paid off in phase 3 of the boss), and my final weapons were: pike beam, dual lasers (I never sold it off) and a hull laser II. I think I had 500 scrap at one point, which after not getting a bust laser II for like 3 or 4 sectors I used it to upgrade my shields to 4 bubbles, and my engines to max and also a couple of value points in my weapons and drones and basically every system. I think the best augmentation to get with the stealth A is the stealth weapons augmentation, because you can spend more timed cloaked and fire your weapons at the same time. The beginning titanium systems casing augmentation is also quite useful for getting quick scrap in the early game, and I sold it off to get stealth weapons and I later got a repair arm for free at a distress beacon (iirc). Just wanted to share my win here. Thanks for the video! Edit: I have to say, I think I only ever took like 10-15 total hull damage the entire run, the cloaking is super useful and I got really lucky with early game ships not having any beam drones or combat drones

Tier List idea: Best and game build for each type of play style (boarding, missiles, hacking/cloak, etc.)

I know this old but after a recent FTL binge I found these. Mantis is so A tier. There are so many BS boarding events that throw 2-4 guys at you. Plus, you don't need a ton of repair ability for subsystems that benefit from being manned but only have a couple of bars. Also, you did anti-drone and shield overcharge so dirty! Anti-drone can hit hacks, both boarding drones, and sometimes gets in the way of an enemy missile. It's useful even in the endgame. Shield overcharge is great because just one bar of Zoltan shield blocks missiles entirely and prevents boarding and mind control. Those two defensive drones have gotten me through so many runs. But great otherwise, now I want to try a fire drone build

Don’t really think scrap recovery arm should be in S. It’s good and will make up the cost eventually but not worth buying especially on hard when considering the opportunity cost of buying something else that will save repair costs etc.. don’t recommend buying this

Man I really wanted to see the mining beam's 135 length. It kind of sounds better to me than the suyari. The suyari obviously has a ton of potential, but you don't typically want a fight to go on that long and the mining beam has the potential to end fights quick.

Put sensors up a tier, and shields and cloaking down a tier. Thats my list.

Hard disagree about the Mini Beam and Heavy Laser rating, otherwise fairly fine.

scrap recovery arm is bad because of opportunity cost, that 50 scrap is better spent elsewhere earlier (shields, engines, etc.) and it takes up an augment slot all game - should be d tier, hurts every build, all the time unless you're playing on easy and scrap is already inflated

If you get the dna bank for free and you’re a boarding ship getting a clone bag might be worth it but still a huge risk
