How would you recommend to better defend this? Just better communication on defense overall?
@BoxLacrosseBreakdown7 күн бұрын
Honestly yes. Communication is the heartbeat of any good defense and being efficient in areas through that communication. Here we have two guys jump when one should have stayed and the other should have went. If someone even just says “ME ME ME” or “STAY STAY STAY” this entire situation is avoided
@simonkimberly69567 күн бұрын
@BoxLacrosseBreakdown totally makes sense. I’ve been watching a lot of seal plays to try and figure out how to play better D against them. Also because i’ve found them really effective when playing offense. One thing i’ve been confused on is what to do playing defense when you’re the middle guy and someone seals you. Obviously you can fight back a lot, but i’ve been thinking it through and it seems like a loose loose situation. If you get over top of them, then that person can now get on crease. If you don’t let them through, then you give a lot of shooting space. Would it just be better to pass him through and split two and two with your low guys?

Way before our time, if someone wasn’t feeling well within the tribe (sickness, depression, etc.) they would encourage that person to play the game to heal. So to answer your question, this is the oldest sport in North America. Great Review! Not to sound too lax gear nerdy, but I am pretty sure they must have acquired the mold for the Traditional Lacrosse Nations Head from back in the day. used to have one and loved it for a casual catch. Head takes traditional pockets really well and is why there is the double hole bunching in the side wall. Definitely would recommend for youth/new players at the price point.

@BoxLacrosseBreakdown I think it is good for lacrosse. The fact that it neutralized torontos offense proves that. Toronto has a bunch of soft forwards who like to stand back and shoot, unwilling or able to cut or get hit in the mouth. Ironically enough, guys like Nanticoke and Frasier would be able to defeat this defense, but they play for the good guys!

Lol, I was wondering if you were gonna make this video and I was thinking of your last video while I was watching the finals. Honestly, I can see a lot of arguments for and against this strategy. Like I said on your video last year, this is clearly a "for playoffs" only strategy since I do not think that it can be maintained for an entire season because it relies on the d-guy's willingness to soak shots in volume. As a d-player, I appreciate how effective this is but as spectator, it's utterly aggravating to watch Dawson and Priolo stand pinned to the pipes in the crease with their sticks down in the five hole waiting to get hit. I can see the argument for it as "good defense", but I am just not sure it is overall good for the game. For instance, what happens when offensive players are told to just start shelling the defenseman's knees and legs if they are going to stand there like that? Now, I am not sure if it should be banned just yet since I would contend that Matt Vinc and his nearly perfect angles is the key to making this work. Put another goalie in there and do you have the same success? I am not sure. On the reverse side, if every teams starts using this strategy, how will that effect powerplay scoring? Overall, I could get behind a rule change that effects only the man-down scenario similar to how there's no icing for a penalty killing team in hockey.
@lendube41696 ай бұрын
I don’t think you need to make a rule. I think that offensive players need to be more A-holes. If they want to sit there start ringing shots off of them

I would suggest a "must be moving through the crease" rule. Defenders cannot stand still while in the crease and, if they are in there, then they must be moving towards getting out. First offence = a warning and fresh shot clock for the O. Second offence = 2 minute penalty.
@BoxLacrosseBreakdown6 ай бұрын
That would be an interesting concept. I kind of like that idea and solves for the problem of guarding somebody behind the cage
@cooperbadger115 ай бұрын
second this, good idea
@Gerberous6 ай бұрын
Should just be a rule that you have to be playing defense or offense. Can't just screen the goalie regardless of your position. Both are stupid and both can easily be solved by ref judgement at the professional level. Adding complexity adds complexity. Not necessary.
@trevormaracle48536 ай бұрын
I think you're overreacting. There is no reason for a team to pile in the crease like that. It is more detrimental than beneficial. I wouldn't let a team just fire as many open shots at the net as they want simply because I want to pile in the crease. If the league wants to limit the guys in the crease anyway that is fine, but I see a rule that would be hard to enforce because the refs have to juggle so much anyway.

I have a real question is that the optimal overhand shot because I feel like when I shoot straight up and down I’m more accurate but have less of an angle on far side shots and harder to get the shot off quick should I always shoot at like a 45 degree angle
@BoxLacrosseBreakdown7 ай бұрын
This was not an overhand shot. This was 3/4 (at best). In terms of getting a shot off the fastest off a pass, that’s going to depend on where you catch the ball. Getting a shot off the fastest while carrying I’d also make a strong argument for overhand
@minionenthusiast34317 ай бұрын
@@BoxLacrosseBreakdown oh so overhand would be straight down then? Wouldn’t it be better to shoot more sideways since the angle of where the ball releases is better?
@BoxLacrosseBreakdown7 ай бұрын
Again, really depends on the scenario and where the defender (if any) in front of you is. I’m an advocate for overhand because you can put the ball anywhere you want in box lacrosse and you’re not handicapped by where the release point is. 3/4, sidearm and underhand don’t have that advantage - though they do have their place in the game depending on scenario!
@minionenthusiast34317 ай бұрын
@@BoxLacrosseBreakdown I’m confused. In field are you handicapped by release point? I thought that shooting closer to sidearm would be better in some scenarios since the goalie covers most of the net from your pov if he is squared to you, but if your shooting let’s say sidearm, from the release point more of the net will be open. So if I’m on the top left shooter spot and I shoot it right handed far side/right side sidearm would be better no? Just sidearm has less aim
