Aluminum is not aluminum, there is many grades of aluminum. 5032 is 5032 when welding, but 7075 is 7075 when riveting, the cost difference is tremendous especially when it's tempered. 5032 is soft and welds tend to give pressure points, 7075 t6 is harder than mild steel. Riveted boats also displace pressure points across every rivet like a semi trailer. Again aluminum is not aluminum, 4k-5k grades of aluminum are weldable, 6k-7k grades are not weldable. I bought a old riveted boat made of 6k grade aluminum for $700 and would cost $15,000 roughly to fabricate. I can take that boat over the top of a welded boat, even a havoc and sink it for $700 🤣

Hi, Eric. I was quite disappointed that I couldn't make it to the last Port Angeles race, but I had serious issues to deal with with my brother in the hospital. So, I'll be at the next race as long as everything works out. Still haven't seen the results of that Port Angeles race that I missed.
