Fascinating. I had no idea about memory. This is very helpful. How does memory impact conversations that don’t have anything to do with your memory instructions(say you are working on something trivial, not to do with your higher level projects)?

There is a lot still unclear about how memory is incorporated behind d the scenes. From my experience, it is more likely to ignore items in memory than incorporate inappropriate memories into a conversation where they aren’t relevant. I’ve found a good best practice to be to clearly reference information stored in memory when setting g up the conversation or if it is relevant to the current prompt you intend to give the model. It never hurts to be specific and even repeat critical information when you really want the model to pay attention. On the other hand, there is an argument for stored memory instructions elsewhere so you can wipe memory and reset it with specific information for common conversation types. I anticipate these tools will allow us to better manage all of this as time goes on.

CBC has degraded over the years to become the left wings propaganda machine and for that the Canadian public should demand it be shut down as it violates its own mandate with regards to balanced reporting. It actually shocking

You say it is a hit piece and then towards the end you say you have respect for Wendy. Which is it? I think it is a hit piece and Wendy gives, as you point out, contradictory claims e.g., she knows, but she claims she doesn't know. I think she knows and those pictures are there because she knows, and she is drawing out Peterson to explain -- but the whole thing was set up to peg Peterson as a right winger. What pegs Peterson as a right winger? The mention of the big money he earns at the beginning of the show, finger sign of one of the students in the picture that looks like something Trumps does with his hands, the fact that Peterson says the students should be pursuing their FORTUNE!, etc. It colors Peterson as a Tony Robins or phony guy... especially with his hesitation that gives the impression he's not certain or she's got something on him. This wasn't a winning interview and his dark self-doubt at the end does not help muster confidence. He should leading by example and be the Hero grabbing this dragon by the tail... instead of caving into the dark forces in its lair at the CBC. The CBC is the grazing pasture for retired Liberals from the Liberal Party and they are anti Trump and anti anything right wing. Peterson should know this and he should know that the right is now made up of many people who are classical liberal in their thinking. I personally don't believe it that many people from the radical right are interested in what Peterson has to say... Why?... because there aren't many people to the alt right (Skinheads, KKK?). Compared to the number of liberal college kids, the alt right doesn't exist. Anyway, Peterson should not go into the left wing dragon's lair without seeing how they were going to set this up. This CBC interview pegged him as being right wing and in it for the money. Yes, tough questions need to be asked but the ground rules should be established where both parties come to an agreement of what is going to happen. No hit jobs! And if Peterson is not up it because of depression, stress or anything ... then he should just hold off.

It is amazing how actually similar this interview style is to Cathy Newman's, but at the same time it is more sneaky. All she is trying to do is also get a gotcha moment from him.

I've started a similar critique on Cathy Newman's Channel 4 interview of Jordan Peterson here, if you are interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/emGznXSHg6yFmNk

The fact that misconstruing a single word can be used to override an entire life of work does speak to the shallowness of our society, perhaps even of the very limits of our humanity. I appreciate the effort you took but your opening remarks are devastating. You claim to have just recently come across Peterson. Are you really in a position to discuss his ideas or his work?

I have been doing my research, especially around the Bill C-13 legislation and his position on the issue. While I am not a Peterson expert, by any means, my focus of these interview critiques is not to try to ascertain the validity of his arguments, but to shine a light on some of the more nuanced topics he brings up and demonstrate the ineffectiveness of this type of journalism at bringing clarity to difficult issues. That said, I will be getting further into some of the specifics of his arguments when I get to a selection of video content from his own KZbin page in the near future. Thanks for watching, though, and thanks for spending the time to comment.

The CBC site also has problems with the Safari browser. It hasn't worked properly on my version of Safari ever since they changed to the new look. I agree totally with what you said about not launching the site before all the bugs are worked out. Shame on you CBC!

Hi... several neighbourhood associations are presenting an all-candidates meeting tonight at 7:00 the Prospect Lake Community Hall. Bernard suggested I get in touch with you, because I'm looking for someone who would be interested in recording the debate. Would you be interested? Sorry, Bernard was in a rush and didn't give me your name. My name's Julia and if you are, you can reach me at 250-507-5758 or [email protected]. Thanks!
