Access is a real issue with most small kubotan. Trying to pull one out of your pocket, especially if keys are attached, may take too much time (based on experience). A clip (as with a tactical pen) would be a big help. Otherwise, you should probably already have the kubotan in your hand. A smooth, oblong rock or any solid cylindrical object could be equally useful.

This makes me think of the Chinese five element theory chi=earth ,sui=water etc. Ninjutsu has Taoist and Shaolin influences mixed with the samurais hand to hand combat before the Do martial arts. Judo,Karate-Do Aikido were separated techniques of the samurais unarmed combat system Aiki-jutsu.Judo throws,Karate punches and kicks etc.

Absolutely! In the Bujinkan there are 9 different schools from that many styles, and in the modern schools we welcome seminaars from any other martial art sensei that is willing to teach.

Anyone starting out with rolling (kaiten) should start with this video. It's brilliant. It makes the fundamental feeling of how rolling should feel accessible to newbies without the fear and danger of starting with a full roll. Huge kudos to Sensei Mark for posting this and I urge anyone starting out with kaiten to try these techniques first. Even advanced people will learn something from this to perfect their technique. Absolutely brilliant video.

I always thought Taijutsu was the original form of Karate, Judo, Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu, and any other japanese art put together, that was used by the samurai when they found themselves without their swords.

One way you can tell someone has ZERO tactical training: they try to use the attacker’s handgun against them. You don’t know a thing about it - is it loaded? Does it work? (Crime stats show that 60% of the time the answer is no). I would never want to point a weapon at someone I did not know the condition of. And fun fact: in many states, criminals intentionally keep the gun unloaded to receive lesser charges if caught. Folks, don’t be a victim. Be smart and stay safe.
