What's with the Space Needle obsession here? SO much more to see of the BA than these limited shots. No thanks.

I used to talk via morse code to a signalman on the USS Turner Joy in 1980. His handle was "Skeeter" and we conversed operator to operator quite often. Usually we were moored at pier 1 Navsta San Diego. I was on the USS Henry B. Wilson. Funny thing was I never met him, just talked ZWC with him.

Thank you for the video tour of the ship however I wish the voice over was factually accurate concerning the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Former United States Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara admitted the claimed August 4 attack, for which Washington authorized retaliation, never happened.

I’m glad this ship survived, but it pisses me off that my destroyer was sunk like a garbage scow and was built in 1980.....

Seems wrong to me too. These old ships, planes, and trains should be preserved.

I am Hopper a FT3 , and a rescue swimmer on the TJ from January 71 to August 72. Talk about Firepower? My position in Firing ops was the Mk 68 Gun Director. We could Put Out Some Ordinance. Nothing within 13 miles was safe !

As miserable as it likely was, relatively speaking, a destroyer was probably not a bad place to be if you were serving in Vietnam.

-NO WAY! The second attack NEVER HAPPENED,I was there. Get your facts in line with the truth. The USS Maddox reported at the time there was no attack, the Turner Joy reported torpedoes in the water which was false echoes. When VF-53 F-8 crusader arriver over head there was nothing as reported by CMDR. J.Stockdale.

The second attack is now known to be faked. The F-8 Crusaders sent out by the Ticonderoga found no evidence of any patrol boats attacking among other evidence that the second attack did not happen. This comment is not meant to dishonor those that sacrificed their lives in this war but just to correct the information. It is the leaders of the country that will be held to account.

I was stationed on board the USS Graffias AF 29 Off coast of Vietnam we replenished the Turner Joy at sea. While doing so one of thier crew line handling was caught in the line as the Graffias was taking in the line with steam winch . He lost his leg. I remember the scream I heard. It was horrible. Hope he is coping well. 1967 was the year
