I made a small kit for my mother a few weeks ago. Most of the stuff I put in it came from dollar tree and dollar general, and the quality of those items might be as good as what I see in the quake kit. I spent about $50 thinking she wasn’t gonna ever use it anyways. Hurricane Helene wiped out her power grid and she actually used a good bit of stuff from the kit. She got power back this morning and called to thank me for giving her that bag. The quake kit would absolutely be a good idea for giving to an elderly couple. I don’t think I would use that stuff though. Thanks for the review 😊
@procaliberhq4 минут бұрын
Yeah out power was out for 5 days and I was scrambling around helping fam and cleaning up fallen trees. Lots of older folks could really benefit from a kit like this
@guadalupeskitchen37344 сағат бұрын
You're exactly right when you said that this type of kit would be for someone who doesn't really possess an outdoor skill set, but needs something for an emergency.
@procaliberhq3 сағат бұрын
For sure. I know this would have been a great kit for a lot of people in my surrounding areas where we just had a 5 day + power outage due to the weather from the hurricane

Doesn’t seem to be repelling very well on the shoulders
@procaliberhq6 сағат бұрын
I had already been out for awhile. Its not meant to be a rain jacket but has fairly decent water repelling properties.
@cardiacbob9 сағат бұрын
I agree with a lot of the comments here. This kit is too big and bulky (and nothing is in orange b/c you're using it in a tactical environment). However, may be "Airborne" isn't Paratroopers, maybe it's supposed to be "Air Crew"? In the US military (Army, anyway), your survival gear is spread-loaded in three layers: 1. On your body, 2. In your LBE/Plate Carrier, and 3. In your Rucksack. You wouldn't usually be carrying a contractor or trash bag, b/c you'd have a poncho or basha. In layer 1 or 2 you might have a space blanket, or in layer 2 or 3 you might have a casualty blanket. Most grunts carry a folding knife, and ALL combat engineers carry a Leatherman or SOG multi-tool. And oh ya... if you're E&E-ing, you wouldn't want to be carrying around an open-top water bag!?! In a combat zone you can ALWAYS find a bottle or errant canteen to use if you literally have nothing else to carry water in. That large Ziploc is nice, but not heavy duty enough to carry stuff. Maybe it's supposed to be an aspiration bag?

You unlike many, realise the heat build up from backpacks in summer. I use similar to your set up in summer. I use my old issue ALICE LBE. Dropped the ammo pouches. Kept 2 water bottles and butt pack. Winter time it's just better sleep gear tied on top like you have basically. I use an old British NBC roll to clip on. Look them up basic and you could easily sew similar together. But I can get a down bag, a thick mill issue bivi bag, groundsheet ( cheap harbour freight type tarp ) tarp and a sea to summit air matress in it. Old style ALICE butt pack, and an old harness to destroy. Take the harness clips close them onto the eyelets with pliers. You can now out a shoulder strap clip on clip off. Or with 2 carribeeners you can 1. Clip it on top of an Alice butt pack to the harness clips or, 2. Clip ir as an extra onto molle belt set up by just using the caribeener around any of the molle/ palles straps above your pouches at the rear.

Very nice!
@davidleonard1813Күн бұрын
Tbh if you were carrying that water filter bag by a caribeener full, I'd expect that to break. I'd consider you'd be better off running a pouch up to carry it full in. Or have a dump pouch to carry it in full

Something you might not know about alcohol stoves is if you add a little salt to it you can see the flame better, I wouldn't recommend doing that all the time of course because salt can be corrosive, but it would help for filming if you wanted the flame more visable. This really isn't necessary obviously, but could be a useful tip at some point 🤣.

You can see really good results just sticking with consistent daily workouts and increasing reps. Various forms of push-up techniques is key

In the thumbnail it looks like the low side of the tarp is uphill. This means the water will run off of it and then back down to where you are set up, which probably isn't a good idea. Cheers.

Which one did you like the night cat or the heaven what do think for the price
@procaliberhq7 күн бұрын
If money is tight the nightcat is a very good options. I genuinely like both, and both sleep great. I think most people would prefer the Haven Hammock tent since its easier to setup and theres almost no risk of rolling the hammock. So if you're good with the higher price tag go with the haven hammock tent

It's so funny that everyone says duct tape has a million uses, yet you rarely see anyone actually using it for anything 🤣. A fire starter or poncho patch is about all I've seen it used for in videos lol, I get having it and carrying it which I do too, but it just makes me laugh 🤣.
@procaliberhq9 күн бұрын
I've used it a lot but typically for things off camera. Great for reinforcing mylar blanket setups, medical purposes, used it to fix broken tripods and setup filming stuff like lights, used it to repair things on my atv while out, stuff like that. I don't see why anyone would get this monstrosity over the Haven Tent. It's way heavier, the design lends to a chronically unstable plattform and it doesn’t look that comfortable either. Yes it's cheaper but is all these downsides really worth some minor savings
