Excellent composition for this Penjing and looks really nice with the trim...Gives the impression of a tree on a rocky hilltop, standing alone against the elements...I 'dig' settings that emote feeling or thought...Well done...TFS...

I love the pot. The smaller trees are fascinating to me. It makes me want to try a portulacaria afra again.
@BackyardBonsaiandBlooms-xn3dp9 күн бұрын
I’d give it a go. I love portulacaria afra. You can style them in just about any style and size. If you wanting to try small ones I would try to get your hands on the lilliput variety. And you can grow and work on them all year long with the right indoor conditions. Thanks for the comment.

There's a new thing I heard Nigel Saunders @ the bonsai zone talk about. It's a thimble challenge, trying to get something to grow in a thimble. Maybe a plant in a thimble would be the scale you need for the little room. Excellent miniatures though, and seriously bad ass that you made some of those.

Thanks for the comment. I might have to explore the thimble option.

Hi, Welcome to my channel. Most of my trees are in a soil mix of the following: 60% ish expanded shale 20-30% calcined clay(turface) 10-20% organic material. I just sift some landscape mis soil to get the fines out. I’ll be doing a soil specific video soon. Stay tuned.

Greeat Tree, and video! What is your fertilizing procedure for summer and winter?
@BackyardBonsaiandBlooms-xn3dp2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I use slow release fertilizer(osmocote or proven winners) refreshed about every month during the summer. In winter I still use slow release but not as much. Only refresh about every couple months or so since the trees aren’t growing as much and watered as often. I’ll mix in some diluted water soluble fertilizer throughout the year in addition to the slow release.

Stay for now, hopefully one day you will get a branch to sprout from the opposite side of the trunk.
