I fully agree on breeders educating buyers they just want to sell the dog they just dont care. As a groomer i have educated many owners that just didnt know how high maintenance these breeds really are.

May I suggest you try using a hair detangler such as Treseme which works wonders for matted hair of any kind. You apply it to dry hair and leave on, cover with a towel or moistened washcloth. Work loose then shampoo.
