Thank you so much for recording this! I have listened to it many times in the last few years!! Would you share the chords? The melody you’re singing is somewhat different than others I’ve heard for these lyrics and yours is my favorite!!!

Sure! I had heard it at a church the first time recently before this and afterwards found a version by sovereign grace music. It has been a while since, but I believe my version is probably very inspired by theirs. I added some minor 5 chords (Am7) which might not show up in most version of this song. Let me see if I can give you some chords real quick

I think theo songs are very intensionally uncontroversial. I really don’t think there is a nicer way to bring up any of that stuff. Even if it’s “passive aggressive cutting criticism” and that doesn’t sit well with you….he’s really just trying to write honest earnest songs.

Man I love Yebba. This performance was probably amazing closer to the stage but the sound system sounds so off for some reason. Not mixed well at all (not her fault). It seems like she was holding back a lot here too, and that says something because she still did amazing singing. Also, I would have bought Mayer tickets just to see Yebba lol I hate the crowd looks so unimpressed

Mayer definitely has a strong musical fan base, but then he also has the side that’s just there to hear the hits they heard in the radio and not really appreciate the musicality. That’s probably what you’re seeing here. Still maybe some of those got turned onto her stuff that night 🤷🏻♂️

To add to your comments this video was recorded at a Rootstock concert and the video was included as a bonus with the release of first album Roots Revolution. Of note this performance took place before the forming of Newworldson was formalized. It was the first time they had ever performed this song and it was a complete jam from the opening bars. It was an exciting time to see the Gents perform live.
