I personally tried this myself for fun and for some reason, I found it a lot easier with Flint since he's strong unlike Salsa.

Just did this myself, but, I managed it with a different strategy If you use the Diet Cocola Cola, you'll have enough SP to do a Receding Stance. You can do this during Turn 2 to use another FAK. I'm not sure of the math & luck involved, but, you can kill him this way to save a bottle!

It's probably one of the few ways to do it, yes, however it's only a 10% drop. Combined with the low encounter rate, it would take quite awhile.

Fun Fact: 90 Damage is an exact kill on this enemey, as on Hard Mode it has 90 HP compared to the 45 it has on Normal Mode.

A 90 damage power smash at level 1 instakills every enemy you fight in the start of the game yet you start at almost 20 😮 ( With flint)

The almost-Mecha Lion is actually optional. Losing plays a cutscene that allows you to continue anyways. But don’t take that as encouragement to skip the battle! I love this boss fight, and I’m happy to see it.

I... Actually had no clue about this! I find it a bit odd that THIS would be the fight where losing doesn't trigger a game over though, considering how much of a general pushover it is.

I am pretty sure it's to prevent the player from having to trigger the chimera escape again after dying and being sent back in time. Also the claymen knock it out anyway@@Nouvellabyte

@@NouvellabyteActually, I think I know why. When the chimeras are released, and you put on the helmets, I don’t think you’re allowed to leave. The problem is that there’s absolutely nothing to fight here other than the almost mecha lion, so if you’re underleveled for it, you could be softlocked here. Obviously the normal solution is to just add enemies to fight, but Mother is not normal.

@RiskierGoose340 Yeah, you're locked into this area until you get Salsa on your party, so that ultimately must be the reason. Considering the implication that the monkeys let out both the Almost Mecha-Lion and the Ultimate Chimera, it probably wouldn't have been a stretch to add more escaped Chimeras as normal enemies. But yes, Mother is most certainly not normal.

Having to time your music attacks with the change in music and thus change in tempo sounds MISERABLE

There is a... Particularly obnoxious and infamous song coming up in some fights quite soon that has a ridiculous amount of tempo changes in it. I'm actually pretty good at that combo, though, unlike some of the other ones, such as the song that requires you to hit to the music on every off-beat, which is very disorienting. Overall the combo system in this game is really fun and engaging as long as you aren't playing on an emulator with lots of delay.
