Completely agree. Bizarrely I first heard this from a really good James Last recorded version way back in 60s or 70s with an orchestrated accompaniment, I played this until the record wore out.

This theme (mi-ut-re-ut) is still a common theme on French bells to be tolled at funerals. interesting that this tradition has its history that far away in the same way it now does!

The acoustic is natural, it was recorded in a late Gothic church in southern Germany.

Unfortunately not, I arranged the triple version myself, and the cadenzas were improvised by the soloists.
