Aw! Didn't expect the shout-out, it was very unexpected and made my day better! Before I ruin YOUR day with another oversharing lore-dump, let me say: thanks for your reactions! If you couldn't tell, I love this game, and I rarely miss an opportunity for cringe-inducing proselytizing. The community is very warm and welcoming, and I've been part of it for over ten years. Now...on to the bullshit! Stormblood is a tale of liberation! Many years ago, the Evil Empire™ of Garlemald subdued the martial nation of Ala Mhigo after a prolonged campaign of subterfuge that saw them engineering a civil war. The Mad King Theodoric was convinced to attack the Fists of Rhalgr, a nationalist faction of monks that train their bodies into living weapons. They serve the god Rhalgr, the Destroyer, whose lightning cleanses the way for creation. It's even said that, ages ago, Rhalgr guided the diaspora of what who become the Ala Mhigans to their new homeland with a star in the sky, similar to the biblical three wise men. Once both sides were exhausted from the fighting, the XIVth Imperial legion, led by Gaius van Baelsar (the Horny Darth Vader Man from the ARR trailer) swept in to massacre the beleaguered defenders. In the times since, however, he was replaced as regent lord of Ala Mhigo by Zenos yae Galvus, prince of Garlemald and next in line for the Imperial throne. Stormblood sees your character (Meteor Survivor, nice job on remembering the name!) uniting disparate nations against the Empire to liberate two lands that are a world apart. The Japanese-style area is a city called Kugane, the only port town in the Hingashi archipelago that is open to foreign merchants. If you're a history buff, think of it as like Japan when the Dutch started showing up. Their sister nation across the Ruby Sea, a short boat ride away, is called Doma. Doma is a kingdom of noble samurai and dedicated warriors that has languished under its native viceroy, the wicked and cunning Imperial Yotsuyu goe Brutus. While Zenos technically also rules Doma, Yotsuyu acts in his stead, and the nation is ground into indignity and poverty under her (sometimes literal) heel. The protagonists engage in a two-pronged attack. Their mission: liberate the comparatively-less protected Doma and restore its prince, Hien, to the throne, which will divide Imperial attention between Doma and Ala Mhigo, hopefully allowing them to unseat Zenos and set both nations free from Imperial rule. The greatest danger, however, is the Imperial prince himself: he is one of the greatest living warriors in the world, a genius with any kind of weapon he lays his hands on (with a penchant for the Doman katana) and is also possessed of an extreme tactical acumen which makes him a terrifying force on the battlefield. He leads from the front line, but his superhuman skill with a blade and his thirst for challenge in war has led him to a place of extreme apathy and anhedonia. (Low key, he's also my favorite villain, and his voice actor KILLS IT.) Once again, we'll get into the characters! Meteor Survivor actually plays double-duty in this one: he is both the male Monk fighting atop the statue's hand, and the Samurai that slices the bullets apart. It's hard to tell the Monk is him, since he has an EXTREMELY different haircut in each scene. The woman in red playfully sparring with Meteor: She's...well. It's complicated and spoiler-y. And finally, the pair on the roof: the larger of the two is Gosetsu "Everfall" Daito, the greatest samurai in Doma, who seeks to atone for his failure in protecting the Doman prince's father, Kaien, from death by making sure the rightful ruler sits the throne. He's also extremely loud, gutsy and brash, as quick to laugh as he is quick with a blade. The shorter of the pair is a woman named Yugiri Mistwalker, a shinobi and personal retainer to prince Hien, who came to Eorzea seeking a home for Doman refugees after it was conquered by the Empire. WHEW! Lots of stuff to get to on this one! Thanks again for your work in producing reactions, and I'm looking forward to the next video, whether it's FFXIV or not!

Yeah no worries man. You put the effort in it's a well deserved shoutout! I knew it was Meteor lol wasn't 100% sure though. Now I know he plays multiple characters that might confuse me even more lmao. Finally managed to watch this and subscribe! Loved your Heavensward video, so I'm watching in reverse order XD. As I did last time, I'll give as spoiler-lite an explanation as I can of who the players are and what's happening. The setting: Eorzea, a continent that has been subjected to successive "Astral Eras" where great progress is made, and "Umbral Eras", where that progress is snatched away by some truly catastrophic disaster. What you see is the Elder Dragon Bahamut, freed from his millennia-long prison sealed inside an artificial red moon called Dalamud, whereupon he immediately kicks off the Seventh Umbral Era by causing massive damage all across the continent. Even regional climates are forever changed by the powers he unleashes here. The Elezen (fancy word for 'elf', really) sorcerer that protects the heroes is Louisoix Leveilleur, one of the greatest mages of his era, and a prodigy of Sharlayan, a nation of scholars. Instead of teleporting our heroes to safety, he actually shunts them forward five years in time to a point where the worst of the Umbral Calamity's effects have been mitigated. Most of this video actually played at the end of FF14 1.0--a notoriously poorly-received game--and returning five years later, you really do find a 'Realm Reborn'. As for the players: I already mentioned Louisoix, and the Meteor Survivor (guy with the big axe) and his team don't have canon names, since they're meant to be a player party. As for everyone else... The three people atop the cliff watching the battle: these are the leaders of Eorzea's city-states. The man with the horned helmet is Raubahn Aldynn, who you might remember from getting his arm lopped off in the HW trailer. Not the ruler of his city-state, called Ul'dah, but rather the master of its armies and personal bodyguard and friend of the ruling Sultana. Ul'dah is a desert trading mecca, the 'Jewel of Eorzea'. The pale woman in the black coat is Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn, the admiral of the thalassocratic nation of Limsa Lominsa, home to sailors and with a fierce legacy of pirating. The woman in white with the staff is the Elder Seedseer Kan-e-Senna, ruler of Gridania. They live in harmony with nature and commune with the spirits of an enormous, magical forest called the Twelveswood. The dude in the Horny Darth Vader™ mask on the airship is Gaius van Baelsar, the Black Wolf. He is a soldier for the evil Garlean Empire, and regent of the occupied nation of Ala Mhigo. You can think of him as one of the primary villains of A Realm Reborn. The white-haired dude on the cliff: Cid Garlond, who you also saw in the HW trailer. Awesome engineer, tinkerer and all-around Skinny Kenny Rogers Impersonator. The folks praying at the shrines: Gonna skim through these, as getting to know them in-game is the fun part. Consider them the 'adventuring party' your character amasses while playing any other JRPG. If you play the game, fair warning: they WILL make you cry multiple times. The catgirl is Y'shtola Rhuul. She gives people sass. She's VERY good at it. The gray-haired man is Thancred Waters. He's sex personified. He's VERY good at it. The masked woman is Yda Hext. She punches stuff. She's VERY good at it. The little guy with the staff: Papalymo Totolymo. He blows stuff up. He's VERY good at it. Sorry for leaving a second Great American Novel in the comments section. Hope to see you in-game someday, and belated congrats on 100 subs! Add mine to the pile!~♪

Dude with the big axe that dons the blue armor at the end: The stand-in for your player character. He has many names, but much of the fandom calls him Meteor Survivor, on account of him surviving the 'meteor' from the trailer of A Realm Reborn. Little lady that drank poison: Nanamo Ul Namo, Sultana (monarch) of the city-state of Ul'dah. Guy that got his arm cut off and stuck in prison: Raubahn Aldynn, the Sultana's bodyguard and closest confidant. When he found out the Sultana had been poisoned, he snapped and bisected the guy who had committed the deed. It was Lolorito's bodyguard--an old friend of Raubahn;s--that took his arm. Smirking little prick in the mask: Lord Lolorito Nanarito, who sits on the Syndicate, the more powerful corporate entities that keep the Sultana's power in check. Raubahn also bought a seat in the Syndicate. The silhouette standing on the tower after the dragon is driven off: Likely Estinian Varlineau, the Azure Dragoon, and EVERYONE'S favorite character. Dragoons are knights trained in air-to-air combat, utilizing powerful jumps and lances to reach and slay their hated foes, the dragons. The Azure Dragoon is the de facto leader of the Dragoons. The guy flying the airship: Cid Garlond, founder and engineer for Garlond Ironworks. He's a defector from the enemy empire of Garlemald, fleeing when he became sick of his inventions leading to death and suffering rather than a brighter future. I think that's all the important ones in this trailer! Stormblood is up next, and I hope you enjoy it!

The cinematic is Kindred hunting through time. The whole thing is basically a Kindred cinematic. The Past when they come to try to take Aatrox but obviously can't because his soul is in the sword and not the body Kayle and Morg killed. This is before Morg bound her wings and had the full falling out with Kayle. It's a VERY old Demacia before the surrounding forest was turned into Petricite. You can see Lamb's outline in Kayle's flames as it transitions to Yasuo's scene Then in Yasuo's scene, it's the Future with an old Yas. The rain of arrows coming to kill him (great callback to The Climb btw), the first arrow is Lamb's. But also, you can see Wolf's outline and eyes in the darkness ahead of him. And in the Present, we have Tryndamere. He's on the verge of dying at the hands of the presumed enemy clan attacking him. The fight with Kindred is only happening spiritually/in his head. You can see that the snow has stopped actually falling and is hovering still in mid-air. Obviously my mans too angry to die XD. And Lamb lowers her bow in the end, because Ashe shows up to save him, so Lamb knows that it isn't yet Tryn's time to die. And the realization hits that he was actually fighting and taking out the guys who took him down at the beginning. At the start there was 1 or 2 bodies on the ground, but once Ashe shows up and Tryn "wakes up" from his berserker rage, he's surrounded by more bodies than the original 2 and also more than the 2 Ashe took out when she showed up. He wasn't physically fighting Lamb and Wolf, he was fighting the people. I watched Necrit's reaction and almost choked laughing when he was like "I have so much to break down in this! NOOOOOOOO!" XD

Amazing breakdown. tysm, I also was patiently refreshing KZbin waiting for Necrit to watch it cause I KNEW his mind would also be blown by the old Yasuo hahaha
@anthara9011 ай бұрын
The cinematic is about the Past, Future and Present The Past, is of Kayle and Morgana, before they decided to go their separate ways of dealing with justice. It also explains how Aatrox already knows them despite not knowing Demacia itself, simply cuz at the time this happened Demacia wasn't Demacia yet The Future is of Yasuo, finghting one last time before accepting the arrow of the Lamb The Present is of Tryndamere, and his non acceptance of death, both by the Wolf and the Lamb, due to his partial "anger fueled blood magic"

Additionally he will typically take on the iconic job for the expansion the trailer is for. In A Realm Reborn, he was a Warrior and starts this video as one. At the end of the trailer he switches to Dragoon. In the Stormblood trailer he will be both a monk and a samurai. For Shadowbringers, he starts as an Archer (1.0 trailer) and progresses through the classes he has already been until he ends the trailer as a Dark Knight. For Endwalker, he is a Paladin.

Great reaction. If you're not worried about spoiling the story for yourself, here's the full run down: Final Fantasy 1.0 trailer (go back and watch this, it's worth it and is referenced again later) Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn is actually two videos in one. The first half up to the old man's sacrifice was the video that played when the servers were shut down at the end of 1.0 and the part from "Square Enix" onward is the actual "Realm Reborn" launch trailer, but they were made into one video for the full trailer. Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn: The Flames of Truth was a video that played during the final raid of A Realm Reborn and reveals the full truth of what happened after the heroes were teleported away. Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward is the next trailer and contains spoilers for the end of A Realm Reborn's story Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers (this one is why it's worth having watched the previous all the way to 1.0 as there are nice call backs) Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker (I can't describe how impactful this expansion's story was and how meaningful it is at its fundamental level) Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail (we will see the full trailer in January. We have the first two iterations released so far. Each fan festival this year/Jan 2024 reveals a little more each time) Obviously some things will make more sense if you've played the game as there are characters and story elements that hit harder in the trailers (along with utter confusion as they didn't make sense at time of trailer release). If you've any inclination to play an MMO, or a Final Fantasy game, though, I highly recommend playing XIV. A Realm Reborn through Stormblood are all free to play and the entire story from A Realm Reborn to Endwalker (the full arc of the "Hydaelyn/Zodiark Saga") can be played about 90% as a single player RPG experience. People will tell you A Realm Reborn is slow, but it's like the first book of a series. It has a lot of work to do world building, establishing lore, introducing characters and concepts that make the world function, various factions. And it's very VERY much like a book series. Nothing is wasted content, nothing is wasted story. You'll do a quest at level 30 thinking it's just a filler sidetrack and it comes back in a HUGE way at the end of the following expansion at level 60. Side content all have stories around them and you can never be certain what will be coming back up as a crucial element to the story later on. Everything is treated as a part of your story.

This cinematic at least up to the point where the old man (Louisoix) teleports the 5 away(the stand ins for the player characters of Final Fantasy 14) was actually created as a literal world ending event. 1.0 was a horrible release and a generally poor game overall, and so they decided to pull the plug on it quite literally to rebuild it. When the time came to shut the servers down to do this, this was the cinematic that played for all the players. The 'egg' is the Red Moon of Dalamud, which was created a log time ago to entrap an elder primal, a god like being, which the Empire brought down and released. This ushers in the 8th Umbral Calamity which does kill many people, leaves the world scarred and forever changed. The part where everyone comes back in is meant to represent the players returning to a reborn game, hence the title, "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn." Version 2.0 is now the base level of the game, where every new character starts. If you have a 1.0 character, you can restart them with a special in-game nod to them teleporting in like in the cinematic, rather than just the normal intro scenes. Someone below pointed out another scene 'Flames of Truth' which you can get at the end of the 2.x raid series 'Coils of Bahamut.' It shows what happens immediately after Louisoix teleports the players away, and how Bahamut was stopped from rampaging.

One thing about Blizzard is, they ALWAYS been amazing at those cinematics. Back in 2004 when the classic Cinematic came out,, they where far ahead than most game studios at that time. They always been the pioneers when it comes to game cinematics. Imagine how everything looks like in 5-10 years! With this cinematic they skipped the uncanny valley feeling when seeing a CGI human. The trailers before where they had humans in, you could easy see that its CGI, they had always a bit of that comic style in the CGI model. But now they went with Anduin into the 'real' road and it's very hard to get not an uncanny valley feeling when looking at 'try hard to look real' humans without feel that something is wrong. With this trailer I don't have this feeling at all. I even feel more sympathy than ever with Anduin. Sure you miss a lot of context and story by just watching these cinematics. There is so much more, also with ingame cinematics. But you have some nice reactions and doing well!

Game does not suck. People play other games and that is ok. Blizzard is like Disney nowadays, People hatting bcs of changing..

Wow is in the best state it’s been in for a long time at the moment and the gameplay certainly doesn’t suck. For an MMORPG it’s king and will always be. Raiding is great, mythics are awesome, pvp is pvp. Blizzard has done a great job making the game more digestible in a briefer format, because their player base isn’t sitting in their basements at their parents house anymore. They have kids and jobs and lives. It took a long time, but WoW is in a good spot right now.

that rocking Guitar riff at the end dials this up to ELEVEN a scale of Ten - regardless of the rest of it.

@@adamsreactionzoneI got this ridiculous image of the lead guitarist from the Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain band (in-game story) standing just out of shot from Thrall and Anduin - and as they pan out to the sword and Thrall decalres his bit, the guitarist just rips off that massive riff. He couldnt help himself LOLOL

@@adamsreactionzone Jaina clearly, she is Anduin's adopted AUnt after all - but as others have commented, she had her own terrible PTSD and such over Theramore among other things. Thrall was clearly the best person for the job, considering he himself got his soul splintered in 4 in Cataclysm, but also filled in as Earthwarder when empowering and using the Dragon Soul to blast down Deathwing. Like Magni, he has a deep tie to Azeroth herself.

It is a peerlessly crafted cgi of two old men talking in a field. They could have done something like adding two second flashbacks of the horrible things Anduin did while possessed. We got Anduin being blue with a hand on his shoulder for two seconds instead. In Heart of the Swarm, we got siege tanks, goliaths, battlecruisers, and a full scale invasion of Korhal. In this we got...a log. What a waste. Then Thrall says "time alone heals nothing" which is incredibly bizarre. Its so bizarre that the exact opposite sentiment, "Time heals all wounds", is not only common wisdom, it is painfully cliche.

Yeah I can see from the point of view of big WoW fans that nothing really happened in this cinematic, but hey. it could just be a small snippet of bigger things to come, right?

two old men ? what are u even talking about. Anduin is around 28, maybe 30 here storywise. Ofcourse years have past but he is not old.

Making a human realistic these days is one thing, but thrall in comparison isn't holding up. Take for example Anduin's lips. They look dry, cracked in some places, and some dirt/blood. Thralls massive lower lip which is much more exposed to the air doesn't have these details. The lip itself looks like it's even got low resolution UV mapping. The armor as well looks way too cartoon. WOW is stylized for sure, but the metal materials on both Anduin and Thrall still hold this pce back. It's why sometimes it's risky to have one person in the shot look soo realistic, you have to make everything around them to that quality or it will show. Regardless, always enjoy these.
@adamsreactionzone Жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree Anduin looks better than Thrall in general. I guess humans can make humans easier than anything else which kinda makes sense. But yeah regardless for sure it looks amazing and we all want more 👀
@Stars_Re Жыл бұрын
Maybe its just because Thrall teleported from another location to where Anduin's is, so he is not exposed to the same dry condition of Anduin's.
@adamsreactionzone Жыл бұрын
That's a good point, nice catch! I'm just going to assume that's the case so I can believe this cinematic is truly a masterpiece without anything wrong with it haha.@@Stars_Re
