There are a lot of things that need to improve and change, and while the year 2020 was put on this trailer, this was at a time before I realized that I cannot put a date on such a small team. In my eyes, this is the perfect way for Sunset Shimmer to have broken bad. Unlike Twilight Sparkle (my favorite MLP character, BTW), who was driven by her academic prowess, Sunset was driven by her pride, ambition, and lack of humility, which is an extremely dangerous road for anyone to take, especially if they have an end goal in mind. In this case, Sunset's end goal was thinking she could rule Equestria due to her lust for power. Celestia's reaction to this when she had Sunset look into the Crystal Mirror is even more telling. She could clearly see the growing darkness in Sunset's heart and had no intention of showing her the mirror because she knew what her student was becoming. In defiance, Sunset deliberately went behind Celestia's back, in essence betraying her, so she could she read more about the mirror and fulfill her dark wishes. When she is caught, Sunset's fury and lack of humility take over again, and Celestia, clearly seeing the evil intentions through her bluster, has no choice but to remove Sunset as her student and banish her from Canterlot Castle, for the sake of protecting herself, her people, and all of Equestria. In my eyes, Sunset Shimmer got the end result that was coming to her, due to her lack of humility. I think this was a very hard decision for Celestia to make, because she was forced to turn away a student she cared about, just as she had to banish her sister Luna when she became Nightmare Moon years earlier (notice the tapestry to Celestia's right when she says "One of many."). In the end, even though Sunset would escape the guards and go through the mirror anyway to bully the students of Canterlot High and plot her revenge, Celestia still found it in her heart to leave the mirror out instead of hiding it away, hoping that Sunset would realize the error of her ways. Sadly, this never happened until Twilight went through the mirror to retrieve her crown that Sunset stole. For the sake of her people and the land she ruled over as well as herself, Celestia had to make some very hard decisions, and I think that of Sunset had learned how to be more humble and good-hearted, much would have been different...
