I came across your KZbin channel while working on a project for my university, and it was interesting to see how just how similar our engineering programs are. I go to a university in the US, and we also have the general engineering focused first year with few opportunities of internships for freshmen. I was intrigued by your perspective as an engineer had a couple questions, if you will, about your experience as an engineer. What operating system is your favorite and why? Have you experienced any effects of the housing crisis? What is the culture like in your workspace; do you notice any major differences from that of Fiji? In one of your videos, you mention that you spend most of your time in planning stages; have you found yourself doing more programming since? What other types of responsibilities do you have in your career? What is one engineering project that you have worked on? How is an engineering project carried out in your experience? What steps are followed? What is a typical education background for an engineer in New Zealand? What is a typical career trajectory for engineers in New Zealand? What industries do engineers tend to work for in your New Zealand? What fields of engineering are the most common? What are emerging trends or new projects in engineering in your country? How does the local or national culture influence your engineering work?

Hey preet... what are the odds of me getting a job after my masters in Computer Science in New Zealand? Love the way you conduct yourself!! Keeping uploading vids mate...

What made you pick a software engineering degree over computer science at the UoA? I'm concerned if a take engineering I might not get high enough grades to specialize in software engineering. Great video btw, it's cool to see tech youtubers down here in NZ.
@vaelinalsorna16493 жыл бұрын
I don't go to UoA but AUT. What I do know though if all you want is Software dev job in the end, the degree does not matter as much. What does matter though is joining the clubs at UoA that have a lot of connections in the industry. Join hackathons and network with people. If you can, also join Summer of Tech and try to get an internship in your penultimate/final year. Get that LinkedIn setup too and keep a lookout for jobs there.
@vaelinalsorna16493 жыл бұрын
Also make sure your github is active. Have a portfolio and projects that you can show off and talk about.

It was indeed a bit stressful for some students in part1. But if you really like problem solving, physics, math, Engineering would be worth a try. However, in terms of becoming a software developer, I would say I really does not matter about your degree. Being able to communicate, collaborate and build a quality App is important to land a job. Hope this help

Hi Preet, Please keep making videos. You have no idea how useful your videos are, even for me. I'm thinking about breaking into the tech industry not as a school leaver, but like you said, your journey is your own. This video is a step up in quality compared to previous in terms of how you deliver your content. Thank you and I look forward to more videos :)

wah, I can't believe I've missed your last couple of videos. When I was studying design it was before HTML 5 or at least when it was newish. The teacher didn't want us learning it because though it was cheating because it was simpler. So pretty much when we finished it was all irrelevant.
