I mean, it works, but that noticeable image distortion is so ugly. I'd rather just have no wide angle lens and use a selfie stick to extend out to get a wider shot if need be.

wow, these sound amazing! I get a lot of background noise / buzz. have you tried other wind guards and found this one to be better? mine doesn't seem very effective so I'm considering getting the one you have here.

phones have great mics nowadays. I still think overall the zoom is capable of producing better sound recordings in other contexts where in can be used in a more professional way, for example putting the recorder IN the stage between the musicians so one can actually take advantage of the different built-in mics. For this kind of recording scenario I think the phone it's just better as the result is equal in terms of sound quality, but the process it's just so much easier.

Fuji all the way. Not to say the dji it's bad, but it just does not work well for this kind of shots. Obvoiusly if for some kind of pov or action takes, the dji will give better results. But in this kind of still shots, the compression and overall quality of a real full size lens it's no match for the small fixed lenses of the dji, which can look overprocesed just like a phone in certain situations. Take for example at 1:52 the cars in the left, in the dji they look sooo much far. Also in the sea shots, the water looks so digital in the dji, whereas it looks just natural in the fuji. Also look at the mountains at the end, in the dji they look very far, small and kinda meh, while in the fuji they get closer to them real size and just give a more lively look.

What would your settings be to record ambience sound? For example, on a summer evening, barbecue at a fire pit by a river and you want to capture the conversations from people around the fire pit as well as the noise coming from the river?

Zoom sounds better, mixes the sounds better, picks up little parts the iPhone cannot, note I say CANNOT, not does not. If you were to centre it, and make a wide recording area, you would clearly hear the difference.

Idk about carrying this stuff or not, but still, people are staring at me when i simply go for a walk alone. idk why, tf, but I'm not even hot either 🤷🏻‍♂️, i think i look like gross thats why maybe 😕

One question, can you connect it with a USB input or do you need an audio card?

Tip: When using an external mic put the recorder in XY mode to use only that microphone as the 2CH & 4CH will record your external + inbuilt mics.

First Gen sounds better. The second gen sounds like it has some noise reduction on even when its turned off which is hurting the sounds of it.

Where were they positioned?

They are both so very close - however, I am hearing a stronger response from the iPhone on the lower audio end - not sure what the settings are on the H2n, but that's the thing I hear most on this recording anyway. I have a H2n that I have used for almost 10 years and it still performs admirably as a voice over mic or to capture nature audio - you can set it - forget it and let it run for hours (I've recorded night storms with rain and thunder etc. that lasted all night long!) That's something I don't think the iPhone can do.

Educational thanks! It would be useful to know the ISO. If auto, what ceiling? What shutter speed? The sharpening is definitely increased, probably in conjunction with internal noise reduction. The key is what ISO to cross over to the low light setting.
