Egos will do a lot of damage to a band. Snake and Rachel run the band. Jon and Snake was friends before fame and $$. Jon was a power house in the 80’s. A lot of bands had to take 2nd fiddle to Bon Jovi. Example is the Moscow music peace festival where Jon was headlining that. A lot of bands had a problem with that especially Mötley Crüe and Ozzy ( well documented ). Plus SB had a problem with Jon and Richie owning publishing rights to the band with snake and Rachel. SB just can’t get over all that.

What about the reports that he was raped? At 19 yrs old? That alone can be the beginning of the end for a man who is proud and trying to bury the evil of what happened 💯

Anthony, I think you nailed it. Sebastian was a handful and dug his own grave but there are always more reasons than one for things that go on in bands.

What??? I'm surprised that you didn't like "Give 'Em Hell". For me that's a 5/5. I think every song is great on "Give 'Em Hell". No fillers. "Kicking and screaming" is a 3/5. "Angel down" is 4/5. "Child Within The Man" is 4/5 (mostly due to the production and his singing. Not every song caughts me melody wise).

I've been rocking my way through this series and having an absolute blast! For like a week there's been no movies, no tv shows, no video games. It's basically just been living room to watch an episode and take notes, then spare room to research on the pc. I've picked up so many new bands and albums it's unreal. One of my favourite moments just happened there where you guys told the story of how Autograph formed. I'm a massive Autograph fan. I love all of their work. In fact just last week I bought the Fright Night soundtrack just so I could get "You can't hide from the Beast Inside". I've made a digital copy and inserted it into the 1985 album where it rightly belongs. It's one of their best tracks and it's trapped on that soundtrack. 3 episodes left after this one 😢

I've always said that One on One by Cheap Trick is one of the greatest hair metal albums ever. I mainly clicked on this to see if this album made the list (and to make sure that the Kix debut was mentioned).

Screaming for Vengeance is not really what i would call Hair metal (it is my 4th favorite priest album lol) though i can see it .Then again my favorite songs are the title track and Electric Eye and neither of which are what i consider glammy or poppy . But i generally prefer speedy maniacal priest (Painkiller, the Sentinel ,The RIpper, Sinner etch ,so the songs that far more influenced thrash). But Priest is so important to almost all metal subgenres of course they deserve to be on here .

Just the facts: 1. SR music can be played by anyone! Sebastian's voice - nobody. 2. Before Baz they made the same music, but no one had heard of them. Even Sabo's friend Jon Bon Jovi knew that to help them in their careers they needed a singer who could turn good music into hits. And Baz appeared! With a killer voice that he used in a unique way. As a bonus, he had charisma, presence, sexiness and a fun, cheerful and down-to-earth personality. Responsible for the work - rehearsals, performances, interviews, photos. The SRs themselves said it in interviews. Fact 3. Fame changes people. Everyone in the group definitely has something to be proud of after the successes, but my observations are that Sebastian was the least proud. Even now in the year 2024, people say he's the same easy-going kid. And this very child years ago chose to travel in a separate bus. Because he instinctively felt that there was envy and hostility towards him. His mistake was that instead of sitting down and talking to the other gang members, he just hid in the other bus. Just like a little hurt child. 4. Grunge music shifted the focus on itself. Very few heavy metal bands survived. Yes, SR are a heavy metal band, not a hair band. Tension, fatigue, disagreements, bad management... 5. Scandals. No musician has become a rock star without accompanying scandals. Nobody cares about boring rockers! The incident with the bottle and the AIDS T-shirt pale in comparison to the scandals and actions of their colleagues. The bigger the scandal, the more the fame grows. 6. Difficult characters. Undoubtedly, Bolan has the most difficult character. For almost thirty years, refusing to speak to someone who helped the World hear about you is stubborn stubbornness. To refuse to open for KISS because you prefer a side punk band to the interests of Skid Row is complete stupidity and an insult to all members of SR. It's a fact that you can't work with any singer. On the other hand, the allegedly nasty character of Baz managed to work with a TV program, shows, series, Broadway and many musicians with whom he released albums. The latter also featured Rob, who voluntarily left Skid Row after Baz's eviction. To me, Rob is the coolest dude, with a kind and diplomatic personality. I respect Baz's indomitable spirit. Cast out and betrayed by his own group, going through a divorce, the death of his father, a house destroyed by a hurricane, memories, life... he doesn't give up. Others would crash fatally. 7. Professionally, Sebastian has been doing very well since breaking up with the gang, while the same can't be said for Skid Row. 8. There is no such thing as bad publicity. "Better in people's mouth than in people's feet." Every scandal boosts interest and sales. Proof that it's 2024 and we're still rocking a band that broke up in 1996. Yes exactly! The three /or two/ members who hold the rights to the SR name does not make them SKID ROW. SKID ROW was Sebastian, Rob, Scotty, Dave and Rachel. And they were a great band! Thanks for the unique songs! Blessed be Sebastian's voice! But Skid Row is gone.

IMO it is mainly Sebastian Bach's fault, his egotism is so bad that Bolan and Sabo can't tolerate him even though it would benefit their career to do so, and they can't make any accommodation with him. The problem they have is that Bach is irreplaceable, it's like the Rolling Stones trying to replace Jagger or Aerosmith trying to replace Steve Tyler. It's not his singing that makes him irreplaceable, it's his huge charisma and stage presence, and it's so rare that nobody can adequately replace him. It was Bach who elevated Skid Row into that rarefied world that so few bands ever reach. So the Bachless Skid Row are relegated to Rock's minor league to plod along with whatever singer they can find to take on 'vocal duties', and no doubt they'd rather be back in the major league, but it's testament to how bad Bach is that they prefer this to having to deal with him being back in the band.

There’s a reason why SB had the nickname SPAZ during Skid Rows hey day. He was a serious hyper immature a-hole w/ a golden voice who finally wore out his welcome. Nobody in the Biz can stand this cat for more than 5 mins.

Jon Bon Jovi did them a huge favor by helping them in the beginning, he was true to his word to Snake. When Sebastian messed things up for his band mates, they were right to get rid of him. The bottle incident didn’t help things either. If he wants back in, he’ll have to accept that Snake, Rachel and Scotti will take the lion’s share of the money. If he can do that, they might have a shot, he hasn’t been with them for a long time, after all and they kept the band going. Also, news spreads quicker than ever these days so, he’ll need to watch what he says. He’ll need to appreciate the chance he’s being given (if it happens).

Kix was a band that always delivered the goods live. One of my favorite shows was Kix at the Limelight in NYC. They really didn’t come into their own until Midnight Dynamite. The first two albums were meh except for The Itch, Pioson, Yeah Yeah Yeah and For Shame. Guru, since you’re a ballad fan, revisit For Shame on Cool Kids.

Skid Row have a knack for self destructing. Seb WAS the band, and I guess the rest of them were both pissed off and over the moon about it at the same time. He stole the limelight but also pushed them into it. He's a big boisterous lad who did push things too far a lot of the time but undoubtedly there was some other shit going on within the ranks. And they just haven't been able to keep a singer since for reasons I guess we'll never know. Bashing Bon Jovi was a bad move seeing Jon got them their break in the first place. I like Seb he can belt out a tune but he can also be an asshole. Nikki Sixx 2.0!

The trail of b.s. that Baz has left has done him no favors. I feel like the situation between Baz and Skid Row is Sebastian's own doing. I admittedly don't know much of Skid Row's material after Slave To The Grind but I've often thought about the challenge some of these bands face (Skid Row, L.A. Guns, Quiet Riot etc..) replacing not just a member but lead singer, especially at this point in there careers. Even the bands that pulled it off successfully did it when they where current, mainstream bands. If AC/DC replaced Brian today they'd tank. The way I see it bands like Skid Row tour today either for the fans, fun or because they NEED the $$$ and I suspect individual members probably have very different reasons for continuing there involvement in the band. There not chasing the charts anymore and the majority of there fame, ticket & record sales are driven by nostalgia centered around a vocalist that's no longer there. No matter how much time and creativity they put into making new music with a new singer it's Baz era songs people pay for and anyone Skid Row give the position to will forever be seen as not Sebastian Bach which would probably get old imo

Didn't they fire Baz because he made an agreement to open for Kiss and the rest of Skid Row thought they were too big to open for someone? Seems to me that Skid Row members have too big of an ego to work things out with Baz, and they are missing out on making millions of dollars because of it. They have had zero success with every other singer, because who the hell can replace Baz, which is why they have gone through so many, IMO. It's like Guns N' Roses without Axl. Thank you for saving the kitten. You're a good dude.

I think you're right about both points you made here. It's a sad state of affairs. I'm pleased I got to see them in Donnington 1992. I think it could still work because they don't have to be a close as they were, they just need to rehearse. I don't think any of them are making great money anymore. I hope they are though

Going to be honest love Vinnie in Kiss and helped them hold a heavier ground but Slaughter is stronger than VVI in my eyes. Just found the songs were not solid and they were hit and miss. Great guitar yes but Slaughter was a stronger record. Never saw VVI but did see Slaughter a view times in the late 80s, early 90s.

Imagine not 1 but 3 guys agreeing into leaving that much money on the table for a single person Thats one of the things about when checking bands, most of these guys got millionaire record deals at 18-20 year old when they were dumb and shit and not the best musicians, thus they get their best material at the 90s when they are close to their 30s when grunge is about to pull the rug, how sad Bach has to be insuferable. Please, check Anxious Disease by The Outpatience!

Saw Skids with Bach a number of times up here in Canada in the late 80s and early 90s. Love Bach's voice one of my favs but yeah his off the cuff energy could be hard to deal with 24/7. Good point on Jon (who can be a douche too I believe) but ya Bach ego ruined it. Maybe Rachel is hard to work with (he runs the show) also.... or just misdirection. Why did Rob leave the band ? Why did he not come back?

Sebastian doesn’t seem to have grown or matured at all. He does love to hear himself talk. As a singer, he will always be my absolute number 1 rock singer. As a kid he made me fall In love with being a frontman like Zakk did for guitar! But as an adult and seeing behind the scenes him, and now the social media him reminds of that saying, “Never meet your hero’s”. Hell even Axl matured . He’s out there playing with GNR and smiling on stage and cracking jokes with his band mates. Maybe he can talk some sense into Bach.
@AbbaSlav

I disagree on that about the hero's. No one is perfect and without mistakes. You know Sebastian doesn't have rock star behavior at all in his personal life. He is a down to earth, human and sensitive person. During one of the tours with Skid Row, he came across a town /in South America if I'm not mistaken/ whose livelihood was shoemaking. Sebastian has bought all the shoes! It provided for their sustenance for months to come. A worthy and noble deed. A proud, self-absorbed rock star with a huge ego would not help poor people by preserving their dignity and respecting their work. His heart is bigger than his ego. 🙂

a lot of moving parts here. 1) i think it is a difficult position for anyone to walk into an already established band, and sing songs that were popular with someone else singing, for a band that is a legacy band, and make a pretty average salary. you have to assume that any new music you make will never catch on, or give you a mark in the industry. its a job, it pays, but it isn't going to take you very far. 2) skid row is a group that is very talented, and will always have the ability to tour any time, and will always draw. however, in my opinion, even with bas, they aren't going to set the world on fire again. the time for them to get on major tours, and pack houses again was probably in 2010-2018. a lot of people scream that they could get on with gnr again, but i don't think that is so. a friend of mine is a promoter, and said that the level of band that skid row is, only sell 80-85% capacity with an original lineup. 3) we can all say that "they can travel on different busses", or they "only have to interact on stage". that isn't true. unless you are traveling stadium tours (journey, def leppard, metallica, the stones) do you have the money to do this. skid row won't. its not economically possible at that point. 4) the only way this happens is if some serious talks and repair is done. the only way that happens is if the parties involved want that. they don't. bas and rob do...but nobody else does. i saw bach on his current tour, and he still does an awful lot of opinion vomiting on stage. in two hours, he spent at least a half hour of it in between songs ranting and raving about topics. its who sebastian is...and god bless him. he is incredible live. but for a band that hates stuff, and dealt with a ton of it in the past that cost them money, and opportunity, they may never want to revisit it ever again. 5) lastly, people have to stop with the "do it for the fans". yes, we bought all the albums, paid for the concerts and t-shirts, but they don't owe us anything. they performed their job, and we paid for it. yes, they have a great life because of it, but they have earned the right to tour however they want to.

I think it's 50/50 in terms of blame. Also, a lot of male pride and ego are involved too. Bach behaves like a street kid, mouthing off. But Sabo and the rest aren't all that different. Which is probably why they don't get along. I remember one of the members of Skid Row saying they hated that Bach came up with all these stories to media about what this and this song were about. Ad none of it was true. Motley Crue did the same with the video for the song "You're all I Need!" Claimed it was a true story, etc. For me at least, it didn't get debunked until years later, with the arrival of the internet. But it helped Crue sell music. That's the bottom line. I remember we all going around talking about the vid. How fucked up it was that they had known this guy, etc. And made a song about him killing his girlfriend, etc. Totally believing in the hype. The point is. If it helps you sell records, who gives a shit what he says the song is about? Let him spread the hype. Just keep it consistent.
