"I've come to the realization that reed doesn't want the world to change." At this point, what comic book superhero does want the world to change? Every superhero that isn't an anarchist or isn't written by an anarchist is stuck in this weird paradox of wanting to make the world a better place and then immediately turn around and make an enemy out of anyone that has a problem with the status quo. Pop culture detective has a pretty good video about this paradox.

@JasonTalksEverything i'll propose you a counter-argument to this video, let's say you had the theoretical answer to everything, 1. but then you gave it to an institution pre-established to make it, you would have them manning your projects and you're just a third party in the process, a person could weaponise it and use it against you or a businessman could use the opportune moment to take over the idea entirely 2. the solution is naturally and inherently dangerous and the person in question (reed richards in this argument) can see the political volatility and state of humanity with constant war and degeneracy being idolised as good, when you have logically come to the conclusion that this state of decay within civilisation will mean the world won't be peaceful in your lifetime but get worse. then the solution is to withhold your inventions so you aren't considered the next Oppenheimer, a person in this position could become a villain easily by sheer frustration of trying to make people see your perspective; in addition they'd be so eager to simply cure cancer, homelessness, poverty, wars... that they'd likely turn their technology on the world for one, becoming a terrorist or opposite yet parallel to that 'manufacturing a microcosm of drama' like a social experiment, with a fake villain as a puppet actor to play out your thesis: accelerating human sentimentality through process of a mass-life lesson, similar to how hitler (for example) taught us acceptance by being a massive example of racism. Even a pure-hearted incorruptible person could become a villain in this process and that's because the conflict of interest to do 'good' and 'right' thing in this situation is purely logical, sentimentality doesn't come into it. you'd then not have a reed richards, you'd have a maker. I came up with this argument by myself, i call it the 'cruel parent thesis' where a parent must scold a child, because it's the right thing, not the good thing. - Tobi Farnsworth

when I read planet hulk and world war hulk for the first time I was FURIOUS at the Illuminati, I won’t spoil what happens in planet hulk, but OH MY GOD WHY WAS THERE NOT ANY REPERCUSSIONS AFTER WWH?! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PLANET HULK WAS SENT TO WOULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED IF THE ILLUMINATI NEVER SENT HIM INTO SPACE. I legit couldn’t even look at any of the members of the Illuminati in other comics without thinking of all the pain they unintentionally caused the hulk. I’m honestly still pretty miffed at them all after like the 3 years since I read it tbh.

Wasn’t it that they were going to send Hulk to a peaceful planet and where he could live in peace without aggressors but he destroyed the hull of the ship once he realized he was tricked and got sucked into a wormhole to the planet Sakaar. Damn, he didn't even mention the worst part about the Council of Reeds: they had decided that no Doom could be trusted in any universe and started hunting them down, lobotomizing them, and imprisoning them en masse. It was so bad that when Doom was looking into multiversal stuff before Secret Wars '15, someone(Molecule Man?) informed him that there were distinctly less of him throughout all realities than other people. They kidnapped a statistically significant amount of Doom out of an *infinite* supply.

I honestly hate how moon girl and Valeria are "smarter" than Reed, they should've gone the spidey route where they don't officially rank him and instead give off hand comments/hints that they COULD be smarter than Reed (or at least just as smart) Especially since (to my knowledge) neither of these characters have shown legitimate feats of intelligence that is at Reed's level

I think you are correct, but your criticism is contradictory. Reed basically has no moral compass. He's a genius, and like most genius's, he does not understand other PEOPLE. The other three members of the Fantastic 4 make up for this major failing, and Doom is incredibly important as a cracked mirror of what Reed could easily become. The best example of the problem is, world hunger. I real life, world hunger is ALREADY SOLVED. We produce more than enough to feed the entire planet and then some. The problem, is that those resources do not get to the poor who need them, due exclusively to corrupt government leadership. All we, or Richards, needs to do to solve the issue, is abolish every corrupt world government and set up a dictatorship to crush anyone who resists our "help." Reed literally does this in Civil War. IT wasn't even that hard to talk him into it. The only thing keeping Reed from becoming Doom is the same thing that keeps him from being more effective in making the world a better place, his family keeping him in line.

I believe in a throwaway panel he invented calorie free ice cream safe enough for his pregnant wife. Not the ice cream itself but food of that nature might save millions of lives and trillions of dollars in healthcare costs. So unless it’s made of vibranium somehow Reed is a jerk just for that alone.

You're probably thinking about the MCU version, in the mainline comics (616) , it has been started multiple times throughout the decades, especially the ones that recap his origins, that the serum injected into Steve pushed his body to peak human levels. There have only been a few instances where caps abilities and physical condition were considered superhuman., but those are outliers, and he has most consistently been referred to as a peak human to This day.

In the comics Steve is supposedly peak human. The super soldier serum is what keeps him in that level so he never degrades. But peak humans in Marvel are sometimes just so ridiculous and Steve's consistently been at the top of that hill. Like for example Bullseye has no super powers yet he has killed people with ease just throwing mundane objects at people. It's not even like he aimed at vitals, he can throw even a paper airplane with enough force to shatter a window.

@DevilPogoStick fr, that is what is kind of ridiculous at the peak human concept, because these guys are not obviously superpowered, but like to real world standards they would be superhuman. Like it's funny, but then again it is comic books, it ain't that deep.
