I wish that among your remarks, sometimes justified and often inappropriate, you had highlighted the remarkable performance of a Frenchman singing so well in American. I'd love to see an artist from across the Atlantic express himself so well on a French rap track like Booba's “La petite fille”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3nYoGWmft6Hfpo In my humble (or even miserable) opinion, MB14's interpretation of “Road to Sion” is quite remarkable, given the feat of managing the entire orchestration in parallel.

Nice reaction, but I feel like you missed a lot of this. For example his comment about tequila and particles in space with quantum mechanics, is that him getting a drink thrown on him is particles in space and quantum particles are also particles in space. This guy went to Oxford and is a seriously intelligent guy

❤❤❤ Its about loving britain the way it is with the good and bad. Seeing the beauty in the contrast. I am sure someone told you the guitarist from the Verve sent Ren a rare guitar and several books, as well as gave him some advice now he is blowing up. 😀

This is my go-to Happy song. Omg haha Mr Sock sounds so dirty...or is it just me...he is French by the way. 😉 All 3 of these guys lived together for lockdown and there are some cool live nation sessions they did. Just jamming and harmonizing - so good!

Love this. So powerful. Yes medication dulls you so you feel not yourself or walking dead. My daughter experiences this with her anti psychotic meds, as well as it affects her memory, intelligence, and ability to articulate as clearly as she used to. 😢 If the rope is around your neck choking you, but you can just barely touch the ground or chair, balanced on yout toes, it can give you a chance to breathe, until you get too tired or fall. By the way, we have found almost everything Ren does is intentional. Saw this fact on another reaction, further to his statement of being afraid to be ok, and the loud sound of the Chair at the start; the Fear of being Happy is called Cherophobia. You have to understand Rens medical journey to understand his fear of being ok for a bit then everything changes for the worse yet again. He literally, at the time I am posting, just had this happen once more.

Sir Socks or Mr White socks is making me giggle way too much. 😅 Love this performance so much; I watch it often. They used to announce when busking and people would drive & fly in to see them. Ren had to go to Canada for medical treatment; ended up there for a year and a half, so band split and all are doing their own thing for now. KZbin has a cover license so they are ok legally.

I think his point is that the left & right in power are manipulating us. We are technically in a sleep state being fed information to manipulate us, while believing we are in our chosen lane. We are just part of the money game; being used for our fears and greed to help enact the goals of the corporate greed and make them money, or funnel it to the desired place for power & wealth for the manipulators. Meanwhile we play a part in staying blind / asleep to reality. He drew eyes on the guy so now he can see, but then realized he is just as guilty as the guy he wanted to punish, so he punished himself. Just my take on it.

Enjoyed your take on this important Modern day social commentary. So cool you metioned ACDC in the guitar intro to screech; I TOTALLY was thinking that. Saw them in Calgary Canada in 1988. Was Awesome!!! I did laugh quite a bit watching you come to realization. You got it in the end. There are some who dont at all.

Optimistic. I think every artist would want to know that when they die (everyone does), they were good enough to be remembered for their art.

Kudos and many thanks, Rob, for your personal and thoughtful reaction and interpretation. Your take on the "loosen.." line was spot on. After a year of watching hundreds of reactions to this piece, I can confidently say you captured it perfectly and portrayed the scene of repentance just before the tragic moment could become a reality. Upon reflection, I found it helpful to count the number of personas that say "Hi" throughout the piece. It reveals how many distinct Rens appear and testify. Regarding your question about the falsetto vocalization, I believe they each serve as markers or "stitch-points" that connect the closing back to the opening, illustrating a cycle or continuum of humanity-a Musical Möbius Motif, if you will. Each time we hear it, we must ask who is singing. By the end, Zen-Ren (the third persona) concludes the conversation by breaking into "triumphant folly" with vigorous strumming and falsetto. Sheepish Ren has long since fallen silent, overshadowed by Critical Ren's boastful, chaotic eruption. Critical Ren is finally refuted and silenced by Zen-Ren's emergence, representing the integration and acceptance of the struggle, embodying the hope enabled by an expanded perspective. The Möbius strip is a beautiful and appropriate model, demonstrating how something seemingly two-sided is actually a single unified surface. You also questioned if Zen-Ren (@31:00) is pessimistic by saying: "And when I am gone, I will rise in the music that I left behind. Ferocious, Persistent, Immortal, like you, we're a coin, minted different sides." I think not. This contrasts with Sheepish Ren's earlier contemplation: "And when I'm gone, maybe I'll be remembered for doing something special with myself." This reflects the "aspirational post-mortem recognition pessimism" that you mentioned, characteristic of the timid and unsure, but recovering Ren. In his turn, Zen-Ren presents a more nuanced outlook, acknowledging the natural mortality of his humanity, yet positively declaring that his music will outlive him, and he will be remembered and uplifted ("And when I am gone I will rise...") by those who find it. Zen-Ren addresses Critical-Ren, countering the boastful and chaotic exclamation "You want to kill me? I'm Eternal, Immortal" with the counter-claim: "...Immortal, like you, we're a coin minted different sides." Thanks again, you deserve another toast(er)...

@@timhoff1863 well ... thx for your input, I guess. But see: it's how we do this thing. And "forcefully" making it different just wouldn't be what we really are anymore. And that is just not gonna happen. It's supposed to be fun - not professional. So it might not be for you - but thx for interacting anyway! ✌️
