Just got asked to do this song at a wedding.. translating to guitar. This is the closest version to the NKC recording.. strings and all. Will spend a lot of time here at this video the next few months. Thanks for the free lesson.

Looking at your hands is perfectly OK. Everyone does it until experience kicks in, then you don't need to.Looking at your hands, even for seasoned players isn't always a bad thing.
@jazzedge9 сағат бұрын
In the lesson I do talk about how you'll look at your hands from time to time. Ultimately though, you -should- be able to play without looking at your hands.

love your channel, whats your opinion playing by ear/transcribing? how much practice should be dedicated to that?
@jazzedge19 күн бұрын
It is really useful and should be done as much as you can. Practice is a balancing act so if this is important to you be sure to set aside time each week for it. If you want to be a pro, then you should be practicing ear and transcribing regularly. We have a course on transcription at jazzedge.academy

Hey Willie, has anyone ever mentioned it's really hard to hear the backing track over your solo in the video?

In the course you can download the backing track and adjust the volume. I want you to hear the piano more in this video.

Thanks - this is a great hack, almost hit on this a while back while struggling with Linus & Lucy. Note 8 you miss so an Ugh! works well, thanks! Worried my muscles couldn't play fluidly, ME/CFS problem, getting over this hump is huge for me, thank-you. Did a similar thing in samba, an exercise for rhythm (8 beats) one student gave us all was slap left lower-leg, rifgt, left upper, right upper, left tummy, right tummy, CLAP! (gap on 8). It gets fun when as a group you're told ok we're leaving 3 out. Shoulda stuck with that - good times - gets you over thinking/moving condundrum :D
@DoktorKifTV4 ай бұрын
PS This feels similar to how tabla teachers/ students to communicate intent? (before being capable of enunciating clearly with the instruments) a classical indian / fusion musician explained this to me (and kinda to the audience at a thing we did together) so in Urdu you have simple words often one sylable and you can say rin-tin-dundun-dika-tee (I don't speak urdu but he said you say for example "The boy ran down the hill" or maybe its just strung together words that mimic that strike or move?) It works!

Sorry to be honest... but I didn't find this kind of video any useful. It would be more interesting if you suggest an specific type of exercise, some new stuff, explain it and do it with us... especially for beginners or intermediates. There is another youtube channel that does exactly what I am saying....
@jazzedge19 күн бұрын
You should see the full site then it is at jazzedge.academy. Can only make so many videos and instruction tips. I can't cover them all here at youtube. As a member of the site you get access to live teachers, this is the best way to actually put together a practice plan for you.
