Hagi played in both Real Madrid and Barcelona, Hristo didn't. Hagi made two moderate teams (Gala, Steaua) win 3 European trophies, Hristo didn't (not even once) Hagi played in 3 world cups and 3 European championship, Hristo didn't. Hagi scored 310 goals despite not being a striker, Hristo barely scored more goals than him (despite being a striker). %70 goals of Hagi were from out of box whereas Stoichkov scored most of his goals from the 6 yard box (lots of penalties, he scored 3 penalties in WC 94) Hagi scored 46 free-kicks, but Hristo didn't. There are lots of things to say about this comparision, but, briefly, Hagi had a unique style for his unsimilar long shoots, dribbling ability, vision, technique, passing and creativity. Nobody could score that much long distance goals. He must be the best ever for long distance shooting.

Real is also another disappointment, Hagi was sent to Italian Serie B team, Brescia. So, what career? He couldn’t play in both team like Hristo did for years.

@uzaku7372 Hagi played in 84 games during 2 years in Real Madrid with 20 goals and 42 assists. He was a regular. He could manage to be a part of Real Madrid during the era that the teams could have only 3 foreign players at the same time. He chose to go to Brescia himself in order to be with his Romanian compatriots( coach Lucescu, Romanian players Raducioiu, and Sabau). Another reason why he made that decision is because Real Madrid lost the championship in the last game in which he scored a magnificent free-kick goal and made an assist to Hierro with a very classy cross. After they substituted him in the second half, Real lost the game 2-3, and so did the championship (Look Tenerife Real Madrid match in 1992). Although Real Madrid wanted to make a new contract with him, Hagi wanted to embark on a new adventure. He always shined wherever he played. You could see the different "thing" that he had, but the others didn't.

Anyway, I know there was only 3 foreign players at each team those years, and Real had to play him(there was no depth like today in those years, only 3 foreigners that you’re bound), then Hagi couldn’t fill the void as a foreigner(unlike Laudrup, Hristo, Prosinecki, Schuster etc.) , so they sold him to a subpar team Brescia with Romanian coach etc. That shows his weak mentality. With Brescia, they relegated too. If he was a real star, He would be a regular at a very good team. He has never been a regular at a very good team. After a flashy World Cup stint, Barca bought him, but he couldn’t break into the team, and he was a sub for Stoichkov/Laudrup. So, Hristo had done what Hagi couldn’t do. 1994 Balon Do’r winner, 1x Champions Cup, 3x Super Copa, 5x Spanish Champs, 6x Spanish Super Copa, 1x Cup winners cup, 2x CL finals and many more. I am sure you are Galatasaray or Romanian obsessed fan, otherwise nobody with football culture/info would say Hagi is better than Hristo. 😂.

So, it became so hard for me to find the exact number of Hagi's assists in Real Madrid. In a documentary about him, it was said that his total assists in Real Madrid were to be 42. Also, I read a book about his life and saw the same number in that book. I think I better see the highlights of the games he played to be sure about this information. Now, first of all, Prosinecki was a flop both in Real and Barca. Hagi and Laudrup never played in Barça or Real at the same time. Btw, Laudrup is one of my favorite players. I always say Zidane is his imitation. Hagi was very unlucky in both Real Madrid and Barcelona. He went to Real Madrid, just after the end of that glorious La Quinta period. Also, he joined Barcelona when the dream team had come to an end. Cruyff didn't have him play in his true position. He tried to use him like a left winger, a central forward, or a right winger. When he played in the correct position (playmaker) in Barça, he played very well. I remember how he shined during PSV, Sevilla, and Bayern games in 1995-1996 UEFA Cup. He experienced some bad injuries in Barça. Btw, Cruyff showed everyone that he's a nepotist by having him son play in that team. Another point is that Brescia was an ordinary team, and Hagi was mostly injured in his first year, so relegation is not a shocking surprise for an average team. In those years, great players could play average teams. You can search for Maradona, Zico, Baggio, Batistuta, Guardiola, and lots of other players to see what kind of teams they played in the past. Even Maradona couldn't manage to obtain considerable successes in Barcelona. The only team he could become successful was Napoli. And, to sum up, Stoichkov was lucky because he joined Barcelona in one of the most successful periods in the entire history of the team. All the players were in their prime years. Lastly, if Stoichkov was a great player, why couldn't he achieve to win European trophies with CSKA Sofia. On the other hand, Hagi made great things with outsider teams. 3 European Cups, 1 UCL final, 1 UCL semi-final, and 1 UCL quarter final with two moderate teams like Steaua and Galatasaray. Just like Maradona did with Napoli. Sorry pal, I watched those games for years and could see clearly that Hagi had a super talent that you never can see a similar one again. On the other hand, despite being a very good player, Stoichkov was very lucky to play with stars like Laudrup, Koeman, Romario, Salinas, Eusebio, Bakero, Nadal, Sergi, Ferrer in their prime period. Stoichkov's most characteristic feature was his muscled structure, which made him have an explosive power. Nowadays, you can see a lot of players with this style and structure.. On the other hand, Hagi is an extinct legend.
