One more sleezymovie of gays snorting drugs and getting high. Is this all there is to gay life,?
@lynsolomon-linville2 ай бұрын
You know I just had to say something. This is reality too. There is a really high rate of suicidal ideology, depression and homelessness among gay and trans kids. Homophobic parents still exist. Maybe watch stuff like Heartstopper or Red White and Royal Blue, they present the side to queer I think you want.

After 45.5 yers with my first partner… I can honestly say I’ve been so fortunate. Enjoyed light drugs not over the top… too much alcohol at times.li Over him to death, wish he were here… 😊
@mikegalvin9801Ай бұрын
Well straight kids get high too at that just out of high school age. Gay or straight if you wake up and you're 25 and still doing that then that's a different story. Also if like this kid you're doing it not for fun with your mates at a party but because you're angry and depressed that's also a very very bad sign.

Opposites attract! And based off Cyrus' line "we can't find this again. It's not perfect but this is all we got." it's implied that they live in an unaccepting society where it's hard to find another queer partner. This traumatic feeling of being trapped in toxicity leads to Quinn's frantic behaviour

Although society has improved somewhat in its acceptance, there is still a great deal of hatred and homophobia. I am saddened for any young Gay person that has to deal with this. I constantly ask myself when are some politicians going to grow up and stop peddling hatred to appease their constituents? When are religions even going to begin to live by the creed they profess to believe in?

I like that they showed the scars on Cyrus's back, as it shows the other side of the closet argument in a relationship. Sometimes we want the other person to come out without stopping to think that they may be in real direct danger in their current situation if they do. Some parents can be outright crazy. Cyrus's dad sounds like an absolute tool, and those scars look like solid enough proof that he's not opposed to some pretty extreme violence. One of my closest friends got very lucky with saving her teenage brother just two years ago, because he let a boy convince him to come out to his parents to prove he really cared about him, despite his parents being extremely homophobic, and his parents tried to take him out of the US to their family overseas for a mercy un-aliving, and she and her older sister got the police involved before they had a chance to finish getting him a passport, and we were pretty worried for her and her brother for a while because of the whole incident. Sometimes it's important to learn the possible dangers someone might be in first, before asking them to put themselves at serious risk. If you really love someone you won't ask them to get beaten into hospitalization, or die, just to prove it. Maybe instead, help work to get them safely away form that dangerous situation, even if it means, moving together to a different state, and away from family altogether. That said, there are plenty of situations where there is no danger present, just personal self unacceptance, and in those situations, I think it's fine to ask more of your significant other, than to be a hidden little secret. I for one am very thankful both my parents were proud of me when I came out, but I know it's not always the case for everyone, even in this day and age. I felt really concerned for Cyrus in this story, wondering how often his father beat him, whether he had an out or a plan to get away from that abuse, or get his dad behind bars, or something. It's always horrible to see the victims of child/domestic abuse.

What does it mean: mercy un-aliving ???
@Shenvalleyboi2 ай бұрын
@@patrickkobes3853 It means that despite him being born in the US, those bigots were going to take him back to the middle east where they moved from, and then end his life in the name of their religion, to save his soul.

Wow, thank you so much for such an insightful comment. I'm so sorry that happened to your friend and her brother, that sounds terrible. I sincerely hope they are okay now. That's a really great way to think about the "other side of the closet" argument. In early drafts of writing, Cyrus was more of just a one-dimensional toxic boyfriend. However, we found ourselves wanting to explore the character more and ended up really caring for him, giving him more of a reason for not coming out yet still having that personal self-unacceptance. You worded your comment so thoughtfully, not only capturing the words of what we were going for but also giving us even more to reflect on! It sucks that even in today's age some people aren't as accepting. I'm glad you had a good experience coming out to your parents, and I'm glad this film made you feel something. Thanks again for your comment! All the best, Daniel & Nate

We’ve all had dark moments and toxic situations in our lives. This was a little difficult to watch if you’ve been there, but I think that’s the whole point of the film. Props to the filmmakers for making their point without the usual “someone’s gotta die” ending. Life can be tough sometimes. You learn and carry on.
