Hei. Valitettavasti en koskaan nähnyt oppikirjoista eikä netistä yhden saada-verbin funktion normaalia kuvausta, nimittäin saada + verbi sanakirjan muodossa. Teillä on esimerkiksi saada + tietää. Mutta on vielä muita esimerkkejä - saada nähdä, saada kuulla, saada lukea. Onko se pysyvä muoto? mitkä verbit voi käyttää ``saada`` kanssa? Kiitos.
@harvoin10 сағат бұрын
2.31: Alternative?: 'en saanut nukuttua/nukutuksi, vaikka minua ramaisin'. 'nukahtaa/koisata' used only transitively? On its own, 'saada' as in 'siitä sait! = serves you right!', but also in compounds, e.g. 'saada kiinni + ELAT = catch (up with)', 'saada kuulla + ELAT = get to hear about', 'saada aikaan = cause, achieve', and many others. I do like these vids - every little helps!

Hi. The best thing in this video: "I have a lot of content". I will be in Helsinki for 8 days at the end of June. When I return to Sydney, I will enrol in your course if you have materials to at least level B1. Puhun melko paljon, mutta tarvitsen strukturoitua kurssia. Kiitoksia

English translation: 1 : Who is that? (“Who is there/in that one?”) 2 : That is my cousin. 3 : Do you have a lot of cousins? 4 : Yeah. I must have around 20 cousins. 5 : Who is that? 6 : That is my aunt. 7 : Does she have kids? 8 : She does, she has two sons. 9 : And who is this tall man? 10 : That’s my aunt’s husband. 11 : Ooh, do they have a golden retriever? 12 : Yeah, they do. Or they did. He’s dead now. 13 : My brother has a golden retriever, too. 14 : Oh yeah? We had one when I was little. 15 : Do you have any pets now? 16 : No. I don’t have any pets. 17 : You have a lot of questions… 18 : I know!

Hei! @8:30 is there a way to say this with the word 'kanssa'? Would "Minun veli on kultainennoutaka kanssa" be correct?
@learnfinnishwithfinkingcap28 күн бұрын
"Kans" is short for "kanssa", so if that's what you were wondering then you could say "Mun veljellä on kultainennoutaja kanssa". Depends on the dialect which one you'd use. I would use "kans". Does that answer your question?

Written and spoken Finnish are very different. You learn a word or a grammar construction in written Finnish, then you also have to learn 2 or 3 variants that are used in the spoken Finnish.
@learnfinnishwithfinkingcapАй бұрын
The good news is once you get familiar with some recurring constructions it gets easier! Thanks for the comment 🙂

@@learnfinnishwithfinkingcap I am still at the beginning of the road, and I haven't recognized the patterns, yet. But I am happy about the news, that there are any, it will make things easier once I know them. Thank you.

@@navrasicsi Here's a tip: Learn chunks like: I want to... (Haluan + verb) / I didn't know... (En tiennyt...) / I would have like to + verb... (Olisin halunnut + verb) and ask ChatGPT for options both in standard and spoken Finnish. Try to come up with ones that you use often in everyday life. You'll end up having lots of templates, to which you just insert the word that fits the context you're in. Hmm, maybe I'll make a video about this!

In Duolingo I learned expressions such as "Talo pitää siivota" = "The house needs to be cleaned." You don't cover this meaning. Is it a valid construction?
@learnfinnishwithfinkingcapАй бұрын
This is "must" or "have to", you'll find it at 1:29. The sentence structure in your example is something called nollapersoona (very common and useful, so I'm glad it's covered in Duolingo!)
