After watching this a few times… it looks like the bird at the start of the video, was the one who lost the fight. Poor thing, but that’s the way it goes- the better fighter should have the better nest. The bird who won had a black marking on their right cheek. It could’ve been caused from ruffled feathers during the fight, which means it could be either of them, but I slowed it down and I’m certain it was the second bird who won. And I’m leaning toward it being a unique marking the winning bird naturally had. I’m also willing to bet that the bird to show up later, was their mate.

Bird feathers will fall out if grabbed on to. It is a survival trait that bird have developed, if feathers are grabbed it is a way for the bird to escape
